Seashells and Suspects

Seashells and Suspects: A Topsail Island Cozy Murder Mystery (The Topsail Island Murder Mysteries) Seashells and Suspects: A Topsail Island Cozy Murder Mystery by MD Cressman

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a short and easy-to-read novel set on a beautiful island. The main protagonist, Maggie, has found a refuge on the island, away from all the stress of mainland life. Here she volunteers at a turtle sanctuary, and when a friend, Vivian Sterling, is found dead at the maritime museum on the eve of the shell festival, she can not avoid investigating the murder. Helped by her new partner and son, the elderly investigator unwinds the many clues and red herrings as she doggedly pursues the killer. Maggie is methodical rather than inspired, and I didn’t feel for her as much as I would have liked, but still fun.

This genre of murder mystery has become very popular in recent years, and it is easy to see why. In Seashells and Suspects, Cressman writes with skill, and there are clues abound to captivate the reader.

New release: Where Wise Men Fear to Tread

Where Wise Men Fear To Tread
I have just released my latest novel in the Gordon Bennet Thriller Series.

Back in the idyllic town of Calpe near Alicante in southern Spain, Gordon and Gabriela are building a new life for themselves with new business partners, Mateo and Lucia. In Book 3 of The Gordon Bennet Thriller Series, things never stay quiet for long.

Murder, European conflict, a superyacht and gold bullion! What could possibly go wrong?
Clearly, a lot! As Inspector Navarro says, trouble follows them, and the couple find themselves once again involved in danger, mystery and international intrigue.

Ghostwriter, my new release.

Hi all,
I have just published my second Peter McAdam myster, Ghostwriter. This one answers some of the questions left from the first.

Becoming a hero is one thing, but when Peter McAdam takes on the case of a missing teacher, he enters a world of danger, deceit and duplicity. With an odd assortment of allies, can he save the girl and save himself? All the time this story within a story plays out, puzzles are solved but new ones emerge in a fast-paced mystery thriller.

Set mainly in the north of England in the 1980s, this gritty tale matches the urban landscape and times.Ghostwriter

Under the Stairs

I have been very busy, writing my latest novel, Under the Staircase. This title will probably change, as the novel has evolved from my original idea. I am well into the first draft at 200 pages, but I am never too sure how long it will be. This is a young adult science fiction novel but should appeal to a wider audience. It is a fun read that harks back to science fiction films, tv, and comics from the 1960s.

Links to my books can be found on davidmcameronauthormusician.com, as well as my Cup of Tea Tales blog.

If anyone is interested in becoming an ARC reader for this book and will provide a review for Amazon, then please let me know. I will be happy to provide you with a free eBook copy prior to its release. It is difficult for independent authors to get reviews and readers, so I would appreciate anyone interested. You can contact me on davidmcameron@bigpond.com

Apart from writing, I have been reading a great deal, both for pleasure and for Readers Favorite as one of their reviewers.

Slipshod

Slipshod

Life is not going well for Peter McAdam. Nicknamed Slipshod at school for his lackadaisical manner, the name has stuck. His life is drifting along investigating lost dogs, missing persons, unfaithful wives, and husbands until, out of the blue, he is employed to attend a weekend social gathering at Temple Heath House, the country home of Sir Reginald Potter. He is tasked with acting as the boyfriend of Sir Reginald’s stunning daughter, Rosemary, and discovering whether her father is being led astray by the clairvoyant. Out of place in a world he has no experience of, Peter finds himself at the centre of murder and intrigue, in the classic whodunnit style, but with a delicious twist.

Just After Midnight

Seeing shadow figures never seemed strange to Dominic. They had visited him for as long as he could remember, but now he realised others didn’t see them. Was that why he was shunned and sent away to a school high on the moors? The ancient history of the moors, the military early warning system and a secret under the school, combine to lead Dominic and his new friends into danger. Who can be trusted, when the truth is hidden?

Set in 1970, on the North Yorkshire Moors, science offers a brave new world and children are taught to respect adults. Who can Dominic turn to when it is those very adults that are the threat? Stanmoor House School hides secrets and the pupils are handpicked. A special school, but some pupils are more exceptional than others. What menace lies beneath? Something watches. Something waits, but it can’t afford to wait too long!

Strange times indeed!

Just After Midnight

I have spent several weeks reading as many books as possible. I have enjoyed the challenge and the variety.

I am well into my latest book, and this one is a YA fantasy, provisionally titled, Just After Midnight. This is a stand-alone novel at the moment and has some characters I am growing to like. Set in 1970 at a residential school in Yorkshire, a gateway, mad scientist and the Ministry of Defence, threaten Earth and the entire universe.
