Traverse Davies was raised by a pack of wild hippies, during the seventies and eighties when such creatures roamed the forests unfettered and free. He discovered a love of books at an early age, and that love has only grown over the years. Right now I'm reading the A New World series by John O'Brien. I have actually read the first six and am half way through book seven.

Now, and this is important, they are terrible. Everything John O'Brien does as a writer is "wrong". Having said that, I can't seem to stop reading them. The action is strange but compelling. The main character is consistently awful and yet I want him to succeed. He's awful, not in the noir way, where we are given a flawed character that we want to succeed despite his awfulness, no, Jack is presented as being the moral centre of the tale, while being a bully and a jerk. At the same time, he's almost likable in that his motivations are so positive. Anyway, that's what I'm reading now. Don't know what else I will read over the summer since the series only runs to 10 books and each one only takes a day or two.(less)
