SING WHILE YOU CAN Release Reading Video

The good folks at The Grind Stone put out a limited edition chapbook of my poetry called SING WHILE YOU CAN last year. To celebrate the chapbook a release reading was held at Your Brother’s Bookstore in Evansville, Indiana. It was hosted by Jonathan S. Baker and had incredible readings from MB, Joseph Fulkerson, & Jonathan S. Baker.

Here’s my set from that night. I hope you enjoy this mix of old and new poems.

Live Readings from the Aegean

At the end of September I slung a few poems from the mainland and islands of Greece. I sent ’em sailing from the feet of the Acropolis, the prison where they locked up Socrates, the craggy mountain where Zeus was born, an ancient cemetery, a beautiful cycladian beach, & the remnant of a caldera. It was a lot of fun. I uploaded the vidyuhs to my Youtube channel.

SWAY 2nd Edition

The first edition of SWAY took off on the breeze, carried away like the mist kiss of pollen. The second edition is here, a sudden bloom in the field of haiku. There are twenty new poems in this edition (ten from Grover; ten from me). If you’re a fan of haiku, give this little book a try.

You can pick up a copy from the publisher, Laughing Ronin Press, or from Michael D. Grover, or from me.

The Glendale Tapes in The News-Enterprise

The Glendale Tapes, my audio love letter to a little slice of rural Hardin County, Kentucky, is featured in today’s Pulse Section of Elizabethtown’s The News-Enterprise. Amy Smith and I talk about small-town sounds and rural inspiration: “Rural music doesn’t just mean pickup trucks and dead dogs; it can be about the way wind moves through the pines while the high, lonesome cry of another passing train purples the night.” You can read the article here:

Big thanks to Amy Smith.

You can buy/download/stream all six tracks from the A.S. Coomer Bandcamp page.

This collection of three aubades & three nocturnes was written & recorded in Glendale, KY 4/19/23 – 5/1/23 as the weather shifted & the days piled up like sun-cured kindling. This EP is arranged with the spin of the world: day to night & back again. You’ll start your day in Glendale with Glendale with Aubade #3: Fuzzy-Tongued Sun’s Song of Reprisal & stream on down the minutes until your time in Glendale ends with Glendale Nocturne #3: Slow Dance of Stars & Satellites. There are moments of joy and grief, quite a bit of the liminal too. There are tears here to hear, both varieties, often within in the same song (see: Glendale Nocturne #2: Light-Headed Night Exhales Breathless Dawn). My motto for this record was: Do More With Less. I did my best to keep it simple, like the way things often are here in Glendale. Thanks for stopping by.

All six songs are available to stream at all the usual places.
