teach me how
to only need
the wind through the leaves
sing me a song
soft & long
until the pain is gone
tears & rain
life on the floodplain
drought ended by flood
losing it all hurts as much as they say it does
it’s not the tornado
that you see
it’s all the debris
tears & rain
life on the floodplain
drought ended by flood
losing it all hurts as much as they say it does
i can’t feel my heart beat
but i count the days on yours

SING WHILE YOU CAN – Audio Release
Happy Halloween!
Last year on this day I released a psychedelic six-song EP called AIN’T IT HARD?
This year, at exactly the same time (11:11am EST), the audio version of my now out-of-print poetry chapbook SING WHILE YOU CAN is out for streaming/downloading/purchase. I recorded all nine poems then went into my home studio & dressed the tracks up in their Halloween costumes. The result is something new. Feel free to nod yer heads.
Thanks for looking/listening. I hope these poems/songs resonate with y’all. They helped me through a difficult time. Maybe they’ll do the same for you.

October’s Flywheel Reading feat. John Burroughs
This past Sunday we had a great time getting lit at Flywheel Brewing in Elizabethtown. We were fortunate to have recent Beat Poet Laureate John Burroughs in town for a featured set of poems. Here’s the YouTube video of his set:

SING WHILE YOU CAN – New Album
NEW RECORD ALERT!

The good folks at The Grind Stone published SING WHILE YOU CAN as a limited-edition chapbook in 2023. It is out of print, but I’m releasing an audio version of the collection on Halloween 2024. This release will include all nine poems enhanced with instrumentation. I wrote, performed, & recorded all that you hear. It’ll be out for streaming & downloading wherever you normally do that on Halloween. If you preorder the album from the A.S. Coomer Bandcamp page you will get instant access to the title track: Sing While You Can.
Thanks for looking/listening!

“scorched page splendor (another poem for the compost)” Live from Serendipity Woods
I live out in the sticks. I like to go out and read my poems to all the ticks, chipmunks, & deer. This one, “scorched page splendor (another poem for the compost)”, is the last poem in my limited edition, long since sold out, poetry chapbook SING WHILE YOU CAN, which the good folks at The Grind Stone were kind enough to publish.

I’m working on an audio version of the chapbook now. I’m adding instrumentation and noise to the readings. It’s wild.
