#XD30 in a Nutshell

So, the #XD30 challenge just ended and I have to say I had a great time doing it!  Even those these last couple days were kind of a bust and I didn’t get to write like I intended (real adult jobs suck by the way), for the greater part of the month I kept my commitment to writing everyday and I’m proud of myself for that.

I applaud and salute all of us who took part in the #XD30 challenge and hope that that you were able to achieve whatever goals you set out for yourself on 6/1/17 and you finished strong.  We may not have all been perfect, but as long as you were able to accomplish something, it’s always better than nothing at all.

#XD30 – 25

VIII- LIFE GOES ON

“Good morning babygirl, same as usual?”

“Yes ma’am, same as usual.” G said as she sat at the bar.  She made a routine of eating breakfast at the same diner every Saturday morning for the last four weeks.  She brought a book with her, got a hot cup of coffee and got lost for hours as she read and ate.  Life was normal and boring for her, and as she liked to tell her favorite waitress, that is exactly how she wanted it to be right now.

“Giselle, that man is back in here looking for you.  He’s sitting in the corner staring you down” Betty said.  Betty had been working at the diner for about 30 years now.  She had seen many come and go, and she loved G.  She wouldn’t let anyone else take her order, and she made sure she took time to make her food just right.

“Ms. Betty, I told you I’m not giving that man the time of day right now.  I just moved here and the last thing I need is a man in my life” G said.

Betty looked at her with a side eye, “so you want a woman in your face?  I mean, I ain’t trying to be all in yo business, child.  I don’t mind.  I was a wild woman in my day, so I don’t judge, but he’s cute and all and….”

“No, Ms. Betty!  Not like that” G laughed, “I mean, I just got out of a relationship.  Truth be told, I’m a little damaged.  He might not want a girl like me” G said.  Ms. Betty doesn’t know G’s backstory, and as long as G could help it, no one would know.  As far as they knew, G was just getting out of college and looking for a fresh start in a new city when she couldn’t find a good job in her hometown.  It was halfway true, and halfway a lie; but hell, who was going to check her way out here in Miami?

“Well, whatever, child. I just know that every Saturday after the first Saturday, he’s been in here looking for you.  Three Saturdays in a row, he’s been in here before you trying to get your attention.  Why you think you haven’t paid for your breakfast?  He’s been doing it.”

G didn’t really think about it, because she had been keeping a tab and planned on paying it at the end of the month when Jayce wired her money to her.  G took a moment and looked over to the corner of the diner.  She saw a tall, carmel toned man sitting in a corner booth.  He was reading the newspaper.  He was fine, and G didn’t really pay much attention to him before; but he was quite attractive.

Ms. Betty noticed G giving him a quick look-over and said, “I’ll take your plate to his table if you don’t go over there and say thank you.  Then you won’t have a choice.”

G side-eyed Ms. Betty, rolled her eyes , put her book down and walked over to the gentleman.

“Excuse me,” G said.  The man looked up from his newspaper and saw G standing there.  Their eyes met and he immediately gave a small grin.

“Well hello, I had been wondering how many more Saturday’s it would take before you would notice me over here” he said.

“Yea, Ms. Betty told me that you had been paying for my breakfast.  I wanted to tell you thank you; you didn’t have to do that” G said.

“Consider it a small gesture for a beautiful woman.  Hopefully I was making a good impression” he said.

G smiled, “well I guess you could say it was a start.”

“Would you like to sit down?  Or could I join you at the bar?”

G was hesitant, she didn’t know whether to say yes or no, but decided to allow him to join her at the bar.  If anything, she could make a quick dash out of the door and she would be closer to the door if she was at the bar.

The man seemed very pleasant and nice to talk to.  G found herself letting her guard down ever so slightly and was able to make small conversation about how they both ended up in Miami.  Apparently, he was from the West Coast as well.

After their meal was done, the mystery admirer paid for her breakfast again, and G thanked him.

“I hope maybe I’ll see you again sometime” he said.

“For now, maybe just at the diner.  But I will admit for a complete stranger, I had a good time” G said.

Before G left, the man asked one more question, “would it be too much to ask what the ‘G’ stood for?”

“Only if you tell me your name.  I feel so silly, I’ve been sitting here talking to you and never once asked you your name.”

“Devon, but everyone calls me by my last name, which is Ray.”

“Nice to meet you.  I’m not most people, so I will call you Devon.  My real name is Giselle.  G is another woman from another life anyway.”

“Well it’s certainly nice to get to know Giselle” Devon said.

#XD30 – 23&24

VII- AFTER THE STORM

G spent most of her time on the beach; watching the waves as they came in.  She walked up and down the edge letting the water run across her feet.  She often thought about what and who she left behind.  She thought about Chance.  She missed him; she couldn’t deny that she was in love with him, she just didn’t love what he had done to her.  She knew that the damage was done and emotionally there was so much that had gone on between them and she wasn’t sure if she was ready to forgive him.

A couple weeks had already gone by, and the calls and texts began to dwindle down to nothing from him.  He started off calling multiple times a day; to now, she might get a text from him every couple days asking if she was still alive.  It was only about a week ago, G finally gave it and told Chance that she was ok, but would not disclose where she was and would not talk to him on the phone.  They only exchanged text messages.  She told him that she was sorry for how she left and didn’t mean to cause him any pain, but couldn’t continue to be put through the abuse and humiliation any longer, and that she had to make a decision for herself.  She wasn’t sure if Chance understood; and quite frankly, G didn’t care.  She had finally moved on and was doing better for herself, and felt that maybe down the line, she and Chance could be friends and put the past behind them; but at this point, the love they once had was now gone.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Chance was recovering from the beating Mr. Ray put on him for not living up to his part of his agreement with their financial agreement.  While he was licking his wounds, he was also kicking himself for losing the love of his life.  He spent days in his apartment begging G to come back and stay with him; promising her everything under the sun and apologizing for ever treating her than less than what she was worth to him.  When he saw that she wasn’t biting, he finally decided to cut his losses and admit to himself that he had lost out on one of the most important women he had ever had in his life.  He hoped that one day G would forgive him and they would find their way back to each other again, but the way G was acting he felt that it would take a lot for her to forgive him.

What G didn’t realize, was Chance was not going to give up on their love that easily.

#XD30 – 22

Sometimes I wanna give up.

But I have life to live.

And there’s so much more I have to give to this life.

So give up I shall not.

#XD30 – 19

I chose my thought for the day to be in the form of an affirmation I needed to hear today:

“I have the ability to create what’s for me.”

Even in the moments when I feel I have no time or ability to create or cultivate my dreams and visions; I also have to remember that I am the only one responsible and the only one who has control over creating the opportunity to make it happen.

That’s all the motivation I have for now on this late night.

Deuces.

#XD30 – 18

One Night…

His lips found their place within the forbidden crevices of my body and I became a slave to sensation sent through my bones when his lips met my flesh. This is how most of my night went. Grabbing, sucking, licking, touching…..doing things that only committed lovers should do..

When I saw him staring at me, I was immediately aware of the game that was being played.  I saw the animal in him the moment he walked into the room.  I needed to do a naked dance with him, and he felt the same about me.

I was hypnotized by the scent of lust. We barely made it through his apartment door before our clothes were off. Liquid confidence turned me into a different woman. I put moves on him that would have him sniffing at my doorstep in the morning. He gave me a performance that was worthy of an academy award. We were animals, engaging in carnal pleasure, not giving a damn about regrets or walks of shame.

When he was knocked out, a comatose victim of the forbidden fruit, I would make my exit. I was not ashamed, as I knew the intentions of this triste when our eyes met in the club. I left him a note thanking him for the evening of pleasure. I walked outside, and headed toward my car. As I opened my door, I heard my name. I looked up and saw him at the front door. He walked over to me, handed me a piece of paper, kissed my forehead and smiled. As he walked back into his home, I looked at the piece of paper. The note made me smile.

“Same time tonight? See you at the club ;)”

I looked up at the morning sky, and couldn’t wait for night to fall.

#XD30 – 17 part 2

I’m trying to remind myself that things will be ok;

At the same time I’m begging for five minutes to spend alone crying my eyes out.

My emotions are confused as hell; it be like that sometimes.
