Upstate NY Research Trip Day 4
Today was a travel day.
We checked out of our hotel in Niagara Falls this morning and headed to Alexandria Bay. Along the way, we stopped in another Pagan supply store in Rochester. It was called Mythic Treasures, and it was the biggest metaphysics shop I've ever seen. They had everything! The atmosphere wasn't as warm and fuzzy as Strange Brew, but it had a nice neutral energy—sort of feeling-what-you-bring-along-with-you type thing. The staff was friendly. I got a new suncatcher and a wonde...

Upstate NY Research Trip Day 3
Today was an absolutely bonkers day.
It started out normal. Got up, ate breakfast, showered, etc. Then I went to Niagara Falls State Park to see the Horseshoe Falls (the Canadian-side falls).
https://video.wixstatic.com/video/5cd2a9_8d949820e6384e19ba6976e0da224c70/1080p/mp4/file.mp4It was amazing, but mostly just loud, cold, and wet.

There were tons of seagulls all around. This little fella was working hard at building his (or her) family a nest.

While still on Goat Island, I walked ...

Upstate NY Research Trip Day 2
I slept like a rock last night. I almost cancelled this trip because I was worried about the COVID surge in the area. I asked my tarot cards what I should do because I was really torn on the subject. The reversed Hermit stared up at me, telling me that I've stayed away from people for too long, withdrawn into myself. But I was still worried, so I went that extra mile and got some N95 masks instead of my regular surgical ones. I was confident that I would be okay (mostly) because I'm vaxed and bo...

Upstate NY Research Trip Day 1
The first day of my writing research trip to upstate New York was mostly driving, not great considering we were on the highway most of the time. But I did stop in Erie, Pennsylvania and took a picture with Big Foot! He was sort of quiet, but he didn't pull away when I held his hand.

After quite a few hours on the road, we eventually reached our hotel in Lewiston, New York. I was pretty tired by then, so I had a quick tuna sandwich for dinner and took a walk down by the Niagara River. Even this la...

Review from Publisher's Weekly
I'd almost given up on getting a review from Publisher's Weekly for The Treason of Robyn Hood. But better late than never, eh?
This is what they had to say:
This uneven but imaginative retelling of the Robin Hood legend from Lieber (Once in a Black Moon) pits a feisty bowwoman against a crime boss in a diesel punk–infused WWII-era California. Tough-as-nails steel mill mechanic Robyn Loxley, ward of the wealthy John Lackland, is disgusted when her Japanese American friend Will is thrown into an i...
