A milestone

Over the weekend, one of my books hit a crazy milestone. Ring Around the Rosie accumulated its 1,000th rating on Amazon. As a writer, each reviewing and rating is so rewarding. Even the critical ones. I still remember getting my first review and being shocked that someone not only took the time to read my book, they also took even more time to tell others about it.
RATR was first published almost 5 years ago (in April.) The series is up to 13 books with another one coming in February. I never intended for the series to be so long, but I loved Olivia and Nate so much that I just had to keep telling their story.
I don't know how long the series will keep going. For a while, I intended to stop at book 15. However, I still have a few story ideas and could keep the series going until at least book 18. I'm not sure if that's the best idea, though. I don't want any of my readers to get sick of Olivia and Nate. Is it better to leave everyone wanting more? Picture Pre-order Book 14 In other news, to celebrate my 1,000th rating, I decided to release a Special Edition box set of the Olivia Thompson series. It will contain the first SIX books. If you're new to the series or want to share it with a fellow book-lover, now is the time! You'll get all six stories for just $9.99. Picture Get the Box Set Thanks so much for your support over the last five years. I hope you're still enjoying reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing them!

A Whole New World...

My last post didn't hold up well... A lot has changed over the last few months. Obviously. I didn't post for a long time because it seemed silly to think that anyone would care what's new with my writing while so much happening in the world. I'm still not sure anyone will care, but I'm trying to adjust to the new normal.

I have a full-time job outside of my writing and we went into a remote-work model right away. I was and am VERY lucky. My company has been amazing and they made the decision a couple of months ago to let us work remotely for the rest of 2020. Once that decision was made, I made a decision of my own to leave Chicago. A couple of weeks ago, I packed up and headed downstate to be closer to my family. It's been a bit of a whirlwind. I've lived in Chicago for over 15 years and I already miss it, but I love the open space in my new temporary home and being so close to my family.

During the last couple of months, I also actually got a lot of writing done. That slowed a little during the move, but I'm still making good use of the free time I have now that I can't go to baseball games, museums, beaches, and the other usual things I used to do. I released book twelve in Olivia Thompson,
See How They Runwww.amazon.com/gp/product/B08B5MJDZ4
, this week and book four of Eliza Kingston is coming along quickly.

I hope that people can find a little escape in my books. The whole reason I started writing was because of how much I love escaping into books. I try to create a world that people want to revisit and characters that feel like friends. Thanks to everyone who has read one of my stories and shared a kind word. I appreciate them more than you will know.

Stay safe!

2020 is off to a great start

Only two months into the year and I'm feeling super productive. I've been writing a ton and I am really excited about a new series that will be published soon. Unlike the Olivia and Nate books, my new series is set in a small town. It was inspired by a trip I took over the summer to a similar town and it has opened up a whole new set of murders and plot twists. In the Eliza Kingston series, there's a lot of drama and murder and also a complicated romance. Eliza reconnects with a former flame when she moves to town, but their past is much more complicated than Olivia and Nate's. The key to writing is a lot of coffee (or tea) and removing distractions. I'm really good at the first part and really bad at the second part. I think it's impossible to remove distractions completely. I try to focus for smaller periods of time and that seems to work. Pride of Lions has been coming together surprisingly quickly for me and I'm having so much fun writing this story. I really hope my readers enjoy it. Picture Picture It's been fun to explore a whole new set of characters in a new setting, but I'm not quite ready to move on from Olivia and Nate completely. Book Eleven (!!!) in the Olivia Thompson series is up for pre-order and will be released on February 29th. I can't believe how long the series is now. When I first starting writing it, I thought it would only be a trilogy. Now, it's looking like it will go on for at least a few more books. I hope you all aren't sick of Nate and Olivia yet!
It's funny that when I first started writing Ring Around the Rosie, I hadn't planned to have Nate and Olivia get together until the end of the third book. I'd assumed their relationship would be more of a slow burn, but they had a different plan. It's been fun to see how their relationship has changed over time and write about them as parents. When I'm writing a story, I never really know if anyone else will like it. I write stories that I would want to read and I just have to hope that there are other readers out there like me. For anyone who has ever sent me a sweet message saying that they enjoy my stories, THANK YOU. It truly means the world to me. Now, I need to get back to writing.

Book updates and other ramblings

It's been too long since my last update and there's a lot to talk about. First, Olivia and Nate's story has progressed to NINE books! I don't know what it is about these two, but they just keep filling my head with all kinds of new crazy adventures. If you haven't already, make sure you grab a pre-order of Fairest One of All. The pre-order will save you money if you order it now before the full release.

In this story, Nate and Olivia leave Chicago and find murder and mayhem waiting for them in Charleston. I love that city, by the way. Chicago is my heart, but Charleston has a lot of soul. Writing this story made me want to visit again. Maybe I'll wait until the weather is especially bad in Chicago this winter. I'm always looking for an excuse to go south! Picture I've been working on the first book in a new series that I'm excited about. It's going to take place in a small town, but the murder mysteries will be just as complex and twisted. Hopefully, the first book will be ready just in time for the holidays, so be on the lookout! Picture A few weeks ago, the third of my Killer Love Stories was released, Dangerous Beauty . The books in this series all follow different people, so you can read them in any order.

Taylor and Shane have a sweet, complicate history and the mystery has a surprising twist. This was a fun one to write and hopefully it will be equally fun to read.

I'm working on book ten in the Olivia Thompson series right now. I can't believe the series is still going, but there are too many Olivia and Nate stories to tell, so I must keep going! I hope your October is going well so far!

Because Nate and Olivia deserve a holiday story.

Picture I have a confession.

As a writer, I get way too attached to my characters. They become my friends. I want them to be happy and have great things happen to them, but because I also write mystery and suspense, I also want to torture them a little along the way. It's a sickness. But during the holiday season, I can't help but wonder how my characters are spending their holidays. And thus, Silent Night was born. It takes place after Happily Ever After and is a quick read. Because this story is about celebrating two of my favorite characters, I'm making it free to all newsletter subscribers. So do yourself a favor and sign up now if you haven't already. Or, if you really like paying for your books, you can get it on Amazon. It’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas is just two days away and Olivia and Nate are anxiously preparing for their family to grow. But nothing is going according to plan. As Olivia faces a different kind of danger, Nate finds himself depending on a Christmas miracle.

Rainy weekend? Grab my new book!

I live in Chicago. The weather here is super gross this weekend. Cold and rainy. But I'm not going to let that ruin my Saturday, because today is also the release of Happily Ever After. It's the perfect kind of weather for staying inside with a warm blanket, a mug of hot coffee or tea, and my new book :) I hope everyone is still loving reading Olivia and Nate's story as much as I love writing it. I'm not sure what it is about these two characters, but I can't stop thinking up new storylines for them. Happily Ever After is no exception. Things get crazier and crazier for the newlyweds and of course, there's another twisted mystery to be solved. Check it out and let me know what you think. As with my other books, this one is also being released as part of Kindle Unlimited. Picture Yes Please! In other news, who is ready for Thanksgiving? This year I won't be heading out of town to spend the holiday with my family and that's a little sad. But I'm planning to use the extra days away from my day job to work on new writing projects. Hoping to get a holiday novella out the door before Christmas. What about you? Any fun Thanksgiving plans?

Had A Great  Fall - Coming Soon!

A serial killer is on the loose in Chicago. When Dani Jeffries wakes up in a dark cell, she learns that she is about to become the latest victim. As a shadowy figure comes for her at night, she finds herself face-to-face with an unimaginable monster.

Olivia Thompson has recovered from her physical injuries, but she is still haunted by memories of things that go bump in the night. When an emergency brings her back to her home town, she finds herself facing a past that refuses to stay buried as she dredges up even more painful memories.

In Chicago, the serial killer’s victims start popping up all over town and Detective Tucker finds himself in a race against time to find the other missing girls before it is too late. But Nate isn’t just searching for the latest murderer in Chicago. He’s also still desperately trying to solve the cold case of Rosie Thompson. His investigation has stirred up buried truths in the small town of Mercy and it quickly becomes clear that small town secrets are the most dangerous kind.

Had a Great Fall will keep you guessing until the very end. Picture
