Reviews
Just got a five star review for Who Put her In.
Whee doggie.
I'm excited. Probably overexcited. But this review has a proper long explanation of why the writer enjoyed my efforts.
That's great.

I'm confused
Why must there be 'guilty pleasures'.
If I want to watch Big Brother, eat twelve bars of chocolate at a sitting, take a very young lover, dye my hair pink, whatever.
Unless I'm hurting somebody then it's nowt to do with anyone but me. Why should I feel guilty?
Guilt and pleasure don't go together. Can we stop conflating them?
It's doing my head in.

Free book May 7-11
I'm doing a five-day promotion of my first fantasy novel: The Long Game.
Somebody or something wants to take over the world. Over four decades the plots become more and more convoluted and vicious. In the end, it comes down to the difference between love and hate.

Have a read on me. Enjoy

Counting the work
I have just had a count up and I find, to my surprise that I have at least a dozen pieces of work on the go. One novel that is going quite well, another that also has promise, some bits and pieces, and at least one novel that is complete rubbish.
But I can't bring myself to throw it out.
Sad, or what?

Okay let's have a rant....
Who feels patronised by this whole Brexit thing?
Nobody is telling us anything useful.
You can't read anything useful: believe me I've tried. You can't find anybody saying anything useful - that's just degenerated into a sort of playground 'liar, liar, pants on fire' sort of thing.
We all got a leaflet from HM Govt, which cost the taxpayer much, and told us sweet FA.
So.
Who knows what will happen if we vote to leave the EU?
Or even what will happen if we stay in?
My vote? Nobody.
And they call me a writer of fantasy!!!!
And to add insult to injury I find myself deeply irritated by the 'word' Brexit....

Spring has sprung
Or has it?
The rain it raineth, and the hearing has been on all day.
I'm cuddled up with A Song for Arbonne by Guy Gavriel Kay. Normally a winter read....
And it's nearly May.
Even the dog is asleep. Upside down. All four feet in the air. Hasn't been and fetched his lead. Or looked longingly out of the window.

What's on the shelf?
What does your bookshelf say about you?
I was cleaning mine today, and I wondered if the contents gave any hints into my psyche.
I have children's books by Elizabeth Goudge (The Littke White Horse) and Frances Hodgson Burnet (The Secret Garden) standing alongside rather a lot of JD Robb's In Death series, most of Guy Gavriel Kay's fabulous fantasy, several of Bill Bryson's titles, and Janet Evanovitch from One For The Money to Twelve Sharp - that's just one shelf.
I'm sure this has been discussed time and time again, but it's fascinating on a lot of levels. Not least of which is trying to figure out where my writing influences come from.
I've decided it's too complicated to analyse, and maybe it's just what I like to read, but I do know one thing, after my husband and my dog, I'd save my books if the house caught on fire...

Ouch
Currently suffering with one broken wrist and some broken ribs.
Moral: don't fall over the dog!
Upside was it gave me plenty of spare time to get Who Put Her In? edited and formatted and live on Kindle.
It is my first piece set on the present day. And my first whodunnit. We shall see...
