“Like the bad guy said, never give an artist a Browning; they’re some of the most dangerous folks you can meet… Artists almost always want an audience, the spectacle of destruction. That name — Dadaist. It’s a dead giveaway. Expect a senseless act of mass violence, the theater of cruelty. About all I can do is try and keep him talking while you get in position to kill him. And don’t give him anything he might mistake for an audience.” --Charles Stross, “Iron Sunrise.”

I Request Your Input: A good while ago now, I decided to do an update, rewrite, reimaging, whatever you want to call it of “The Bet,” by Anton Chekhov. Long story short, published in 1889, the story is about this rich bank and a lawyer that bet 2 million Rubbles that the lawyer cannot spend 15 years in solitary confinement, with a list of terms and conditions. So here are my two main questions; 1) how much money, in modern American dollars, would you want to spend 10 years in solitary confinement, and 2) speaking as the person who has agreed to spend a decade of their life in solitary confinement, what terms, and conditions would you want?
