Flower Shop #3
I took this photo last Fall at the Athens Farmers Market. The chrysanthemums were just too dazzling for me to resist.

“Do not fear, my man,” Mr. Owl cut off calmly. “That boy doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing and having him kill himself will mean no cumbersome trouble on your part.”
“It would be no trouble.”
“That is why I like you, Mr. Ogg,” Mr. Owl laughed. “Always ready to break a neck.”

In the Manuscript ~ chapter one
Manuscript Title: Quest for Milo
Chapter: One ~ The Lost Thief
Version: 2nd
Copyright: M. L. LeGette
The Excerpt:
"You being sorry doesn't bring me Lynch back," Jack said sharply. "I've lost a fine thief, thanks to you."
"Jack–"
"It's time you faced facts, Toad. I can't keep paying for your mistakes."
"It was just this one time!" Toad protested.
Jack raised one eyebrow.
"The Barrow heist?"
"An accident."
"The Smiths?"
"That wasn't my fault! I–"
"What about the bank?"
"It was dark!"
Jack sighed and Bone snickered.
"Toad, what is it exactly that we do?" asked Jack, his voice tired.
Toad shifted on his box.
"We steal," he mumbled.
"And by being professionals of theft and robbery, don't we often travel by night?"
Toad looked down at his knees.
"Toad?"
"Yes," Toad whispered.
"So we must learn to see in the dark, mustn't we?"

Milo Drama
To give you a sense of the current state of my life, let me say that I am writing this while sitting in the middle of my brother's pasture while my bottle-fed gang nibbles sticks and grass around me.
Now, on with the post.
I started working on Quest for Milo about 2 years ago. And about two months ago the story took a spiraling nosedive. I realized that I didn't have a plot … at least, not one that was able to stand on its own two feet. But after many tantrums and tears, my plot plotters (Mom and big brother Ben) helped me get back on the right path.
That's the good news–I've got a plot! The bad news is that I am literally starting over. From chapter one. Rest assured that Quest for Milo will be finished and it will be published. Just not as soon as I was thinking a few months ago.

An excerpt: chapter 14 ~ page 169
"You can't keep her safe forever!" Myra said furiously. "Mora will find her and when she does–"
"Mora doesn't know about Leah," Lavena interrupted.
"Not yet, she doesn't," Myra argued, "but when she does, Leah would be better off prepared than the sitting duck she is now! She will find out!"
"I don't want her killed, Myra!" Lavena yelled.
There was a horrible silence. All I could hear was the steady splattering of heavy rain drops.
"Then tell her," Myra replied coldly, "tell her the danger she is in."
My heart hammered in my chest. I was in danger? How? Why? Who was Mora? I'd never heard of her–but, wait, there was something familiar about that name … like I had heard it somewhere…
