"You being sorry doesn't bring me Lynch back," Jack said sharply. "I've lost a fine thief, thanks to you."
"Jack–"
"It's time you faced facts, Toad. I can't keep paying for your mistakes."
"It was just this one time!" Toad protested.
Jack raised one eyebrow.
"The Barrow heist?"
"An accident."
"The Smiths?"
"That wasn't my fault! I–"
"What about the bank?"
"It was dark!"
Jack sighed and Bone snickered.
"Toad, what is it exactly that we do?" asked Jack, his voice tired.
Toad shifted on his box.
"We steal," he mumbled.
"And by being professionals of theft and robbery, don't we often travel by night?"
Toad looked down at his knees.
"Toad?"
"Yes," Toad whispered.
"So we must learn to see in the dark, mustn't we?"
