gratefulness

Ahh…I just received a lovely card from a sweet dancing friend and wanted to share the quote with you. I've read it before and it is something I think about often, how grateful I am for what and who I have in my life— lovely friends and family who mean the world to me, from all over the world! I am truly blessed.

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."   Marcel Proust

Summer eating from the Farmgirl

Now it is time for the Farmgirl to speak! Even thought she hasn't been writing much, she sure has been living the farm life!

Here are just a few things about country living: Noisy goats,  a crowing rooster, newly laying pullets (Ruby and Diamond!) and fresh eggs daily, cuddly dogs, emergency vet runs, barking dogs, tons of gorgeous kale, colorful stalks of swiss chard, thistles, tree chopping, baby chicks getting picked on and bloody, land clearing to raise a barn, deep purple blueberries, beauti

How about that intention?

Every year before the Christmas holiday dance class break, I have my students write down on a piece of paper an intention for a dance goal for the coming year, and I also ask them to write down a dance accomplishment from the past year. That way we can honor the past and send good energy into the wishes of the future. We put all our written thoughts in a beautiful urn in the middle of our dance circle, and dance for each other's goals and dreams. And then we let go of them. It seems important no

One More Thing—setting an intention…

I'm back from my teaching trip to Edmonton, Canada, and it was a delightful long weekend. Teaching four mind bending, thought provoking, and body working workshops over two days was fabulous and the dancers left with lots of information and ideas to build their tribal repertoire on. I also got a chance to perform solo (!) and watch the local troupes strut their stuff and show off their interpretations of tribal and fusion dances at the hafla, and played percusiion as Jeff as showed them what the

One More Thing- 8/11/09- you are human, after all…

Ok, so, I keep thinking about one more thing, and sometimes, I can't think of one more thing. Life keeps on, fills up, obligations take over, work is too busy, the farm animals are needing urgent care, and I still want to do one more thing for the planet. But my mind won't come up with the one more thing. Sometimes, you know how it is I'm sure, when you need to think of something, or recall what you just thought of, and you go blank, well, here I am… You can beat yourself up, for not being the

a magical place to dance, and what a party!

Last weekend Gypsy Caravan and friends had a great opportunity to grace a dock on the river with our dance for a very large private party. Karen Harte from the Collective joined myself and Gypsy Carol, along with former Gypsy dancer Karen Hunt! What a treat for me as well as the audience. Karen Hunt is a soulmate to me, an amazing dance partner with wonderful energy, and it was wonderful to have her join us for this show. With Carol's beauty and grace, and with Karen Harte's poise and stature, a

an excerpt from my newsletter to think about!

Just so we can be more interactive, I thought I would copy this excerpt from my August Caravan Trails/Tribal Travels enewsletter! I love to hear what you have to say.

Here are some questions and a thought…When you dance, what do you strive for? Why did you start dance classes? Do you try to be pretty good at it? Or do you want to be spectacular? Do you just show up and go through the moves? Will you just be a mediocre dancer? What kind of risk do you take with your dance? Do you give yourself cre
