The Love of Three Oranges opera & my play are both based on the commedia scenerio of the same name
I'm having bad luck with media coverage lately, have you noticed?
So tonight, The Love of Three Oranges opens in Indiana and if you are anywhere near the area of the Avon High School Performing Arts Center, you may want to check it out. I know the cast and crew had been working very hard on the production so it should be a great show. There is some media coverage on their performance here. I highly recommend you check it out if you are in the area.
As for the article, this time they didn't...

In which Hillary is temporarily Script Frenzy thwarted but makes up for it in the end
So 3 hours ago, I tweeted that I was exactly 12 pages behind on Script Frenzy. Then I went to work on my script, having worked this weekend to buy myself this time. Now, three hours later, I have added 10 pages to my script and I am only 4 pages behind.
Wait a minute, your inner calculator may be saying, shouldn't you be 2 pages away from caught up now?
Well, funny story. I am writing my script in Celtx which is a great free program with a few small issues. For some reason, when I turned on...

So, apparently, I'm on pace with my writing goals. This, of course, makes me feel like I should make a harder goal.
I haven't looked at my year long writing goal spreadsheet because I made a separate spreadsheet just for Script Frenzy and have been living inside it for the last few days.
I have an addiction to making very complicated writing spreadsheets. You may have noticed this. On the plus side, I am an Excel MASTER!
So let's recap, shall we. I was trying to write the equivalent of 500 words a day of new fiction (blog posts, pre-writing etc do not count) without actually writing every single day...

Script Frenzy progress report (Day 5, natives are restless. Also 17 pages.)
So I promised to detail what I was writing for Script Frenzy but then I had the work crisis of death and never got to write up a post about that.
You may be interested to know that the all-nighters I pulled to save someone else's reputation in that crisis were so appreciated that no one even said thank you or even acknowledged in any way that I pulled off that amazing feat, not even the person I did it all for. It really makes you feel like your work is worthwhile and valuable when you risk h...
Justifiable homicide
Me: I'm having trouble with this part [in my book:] and I need some advice.
Husband: OK (Starts to read what is on my computer screen behind me)
Me: No! Don't read what is on the screen. Everything on the screen has already been cut out and is from an old draft where events don't even happen in the same order. Ignore what is on the screen, it is not in the story anymore and let me tell you about the problem I'm having.
Husband: OK
(I then detail the problem I am having with my story. He does not...

Ha! And they said the all-nighters would end with college….
I'm having the night from hell over here, one of those lovely hair-on-fire work crisis situations where I am sadly pulling an all but all-niter for work. So staying up really late AND getting up early. Not excited about this at all. But if there is one thing Hillary DePiano doesn't do its let people down so I'm going to finish it, by damn it, or at least get as much done as possible. This is one case when failure to plan on their part does constitute an emergency on my part, to paraphrase...
