Beautiful People, March 2017
Hi guys! Can you believe it’s time for another Beautiful People? I know I say this every month, but wow. Time flies. It really does.
This month I’m interviewing a character from the novel I’ll be working on during April, Once a Stratton. Her name is Lilli Strauss, and she’s the main character of the aforementioned story. I believe you’ve heard of Lilli before. If not, there’s no time like the present to meet her.

In Which I Try to Improve Myself
[image error]
A couple days ago, I drummed up a new schedule for my *clears throat important* personal improvement.
I’m getting up at 6:30 every morning (except on the weekends).
I’m going to bed at 10:30 (well, more like 11:30 … or later … but I’m trying).
I’m getting all my jobs done earlier than I did before.
However, most importantly, I’m allotting special times for writing, editing, blogging, training Riley, practicing my clarinet, reading the Bible, and all that other lovely stuff … most of which I actually enjoy doing but just don’t get time for!
I decided to share a copy of my schedule with you. I’ve posted it on my board in my room (along with all my goals and stuff), so it’s official.

Kell in Cal(ifornia)
As most of you know, I took a trip to California with my parents last week. I took quite a few pictures while I was there, and today I’ll be sharing a few of them with you.
However, before you move on to my excellent photography, I’d like to direct you attention to this poll. If you have a moment, hop over there and vote for The Lady of the Vineyard! If TLOTV gets enough votes, it will be “Book of the Month” over there are Long and Short Reviews (YA), which would be a huge honor for me.

March 2017 Dares
Hello all! Time for another dares post, but first we’re trying something new.
-February Highlights-
Went to California to visit my sister and her family for a week. Pictures coming Wednesday! Although not very good pictures. I also made some observations about humankind while I was down there (basically, I spied on random people and made mental notes about their behavior … because waiting in airports is boring …), and I got around to asking my sister a question about publishing that I’ve been putting off. (What? I’m stubborn about asking for advice/help … like, really stubborn …)
Helped my (other) sister host a Valentine’s Day Party for kids. It was so much fun! I got to spend time with both my niece and my nephew while making valentines … and it was amazing to observe the differences in their behavior. The boy was covering his hearts with frog stickers and showing me the difference between boy frog stickers and girl frog stickers (don’t ask …), and the girl was carefully pasting each heart in a careful pattern and making it look just so … And yet y’all try to tell me there’s no difference between boys and girls? Yeah, right. There’s a difference, and it ain’t just biology … it’s mental. Have you noticed that the same people who claim they love differences want everyone to be the same? How on earth does that make sense?!
Went to several homeschool P.E. classes. I need the exercise.
How much is too much?
I wrote another post for Send the Light, a Christian blog I co-author on … this time on a somewhat different subject than what I’m used to … makeup.
What? Makeup can be a very tricky subject for Christian girls! It really can!

Flowers, Part 4
Before you read this, you must promise not to hate any of the characters. Well, not much. You can hate them a little … but you can’t hate the story. Hating the story is decidedly not allowed. It’s off limits. Don’t even think about it.
As you can see, I’m testing out the ‘featured image’ setting for this theme. In my opinion, you should always have a featured image … and I never do. So, henceforth, there shall be a featured image.
Assuming I like the way this theme does featured images … so I guess that’s more of a ‘maybe’ than a ‘shall be.’
Oh, and this section has Christianity in it. Consider yourself warned.

California, Cats, and Contests
I’m in California, guys! Been here since Saturday. And … nothing big to report here. I’ll probably post some pictures next week (as in the week after this week). Stay tuned for that.
Cats
I admit ‘cats’ is completely random, unless you count the one sleeping behind me on the couch. Which is my bed at the moment. His name is Bruce – he’s my sister’s – and he bears a ridiculously strong resemblance to Garfield.
Contests
This is what you’ve all been waiting for, right? You all were patient, looking at my Californias and cats, when this was really what you wanted to read about.
Well, I shan’t disappoint.
As you remember from the spotlight, this contest is a guessing game … see a title, tell me what it’s about. Many valiantly tried, but only three can win … so I had to narrow it down to the following winners.
The three titles were Cincinnati, The Lifeblood of Essie Farjon, and Potato Picker.
Third Place
For her valiant efforts in the field of guessing, Lana won third place in this contest. For Potato Picker, she guessed:
Oh gosh, I even read some of Potato Picker! But I can’t find it now, so I guess I’ll just have to go off on memory…eep. I want to say that it was during the potato famine in Ireland (but another part of me is telling me that’s totally not true and I feel like it’s in America) and there’s this girl who is forced into an arranged marriage with this other guy. And they get married, and, um, potatoes bring them together. (Wow. Someone who didn’t even know what it was about could have done better than that.)
That was fairly accurate, but as you can see, she cheated a bit, ergo third place.

February 2017 Spotlight: Goals and Titles (Again)
Sorry about the post being so late, guys. I’ve been distracted … by How to Train Your Dragon. What? I need to spend more time with my brothers, so … okay, you’ve got me; I like HTTYD. Then I’ve been in this kinda mood these last couple days:
And my family is like this:
And I reply:
And/or:
Seriously, though, we’re gonna have an awesome spotlight this month. So read on, and you’ll … I don’t know. Enjoy this post. And just remember …

Today we’re gonna talk about goals. (And various other things later on, but that’s besides the point …)
Goals are fun. They’re a moment of insanity when you, at your most optimistic, decided you could actually do something.
Big mistake.
Just kidding. Goals are good. They help you keep track of what you need to do and when you want to do it.
For some insane reason, I thought it’d be fun to talk about my (writing) goals up until 2020, at which point I will presumably be in my freshman/sophomore year at college (assuming I go to college … which I seriously doubt … what’s the point?) or (more likely) waitressing and writing and wondering why such a bright girl could end up such a failure …

Beautiful People #22, A Free Book, and a Poem
Guess what? Beautiful People is back! *dances*
Okay, so let me be completely honest with you … Beautiful Books was fun and all … but I totally missed talking about my characters … or rather from my characters’ perspectives, as I always change the questions so my guys can answer them instead of me. Because I’m boring. But me charries? Not so much.
For those of you who don’t know, Beautiful People is a monthly linkup hosted by Cait and Sky. You can find out more about it here.
Before you read on, I have something really cool to share with you … a free ebook!
That’s right! The Lady of the Vineyard is free on Amazon Kindle today. Get it now! You should ’cause it’s a great book. It has people in it. *nods*
And … I wrote a poem! Again! I know, I should just stop … the world is sinful, sure, but it doesn’t deserve this much torture. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and … um … what else can you do with a poem? I don’t know. Eat it? No wait … that would be weird … especially since you’re presumably reading this on a computer/phone/other electronic device, so you’d be eating, like, plastic and mental and wires and stuff. Or whatever’s in these things …
Three Good Reasons Why February Should Be Banned
First, the month is so dreadfully small
It hardly seems to be there at all
(Unless, of course, it rains or it snows
And then you find there’s no where to go
And then it’s twice as long as most)
I think that this month should roast.
–
Second, there is a matter of winter
There’s patterns to others, but Feb’s a free-thinker
She chooses her weather (though leaning towards gray
In the darkiest, cloudiest, dingiest way)
You cannot deny that she makes quite a fuss
It’s ridiculous that she’s allowed to do thus!
–
Third is a matter we all can attend to
We all know that love is occasionally bumped into
At one point of our lives (or another if not)
Flowers and chocolate and romantic thoughts
Well, old Feb knows this, and so she made a day
To honor these feelings in the stupidest way
–
Well, by now I’ve convinced you it ought to be banned
I think we could do this if the doing’s well-planned
Add a few days onto June and July
Put the rest onto August and then you will find
That old Feb is gone, for better or worse
Oh, dear, here comes another cloudburst!
Isn’t it great?

Interview with H.G. Reilly
[image error]
Hi guys! Now, normally I don’t do this kind of post on Reveries anymore (this is more of a Reveries Reviews thing), but I decided to post this interview here because I’m the owner of this blog, and I can do whatever I want on it. Besides, sometimes it’s fun to read about other authors than me. I know you don’t believe it, but it is. Seriously.
Okay, I know, I know … you read about other authors … and I find that intensely disloyal of you … but we’ll move on from that distasteful revelation (*glares at disloyal readers for a solid minute*) and talk about H.G. Reilly of Wilted Rose.
My questions will be like this, her answers will be like this (don’t worry; you’re not blind … there’s nothing to see), and my comments will be like this.
The VIWs and VIAs (Very Important Questions and Very Important Answers)
Would you care to introduce yourself to the readers?
Sure thing Kellyn! Hi guys, my name is Hannah. (Bam, secret out …) I am a Christian striving to serve the Lord. I am also a homeschooler who loves homeschooling! I love tea and hot-chocolate (hot cocoa). I have a knack of rambling on about random and insignificant things, because that is who God made me to be.
Ooh, hot chocolate … *licks lips*
What’s your current writing project and what’s it about?
My current writing project is titled ‘Her Faith’.
Her Faith is about a fifteen year old girl, Melisa Cartridge, whose father was part of a fatal car accident leaving him in hospital with very major injuries. Melisa’s mother sends her and her sister away to live with relatives, and while Melisa is with her cousins she realizes that the faith in God she forgot when the accedent happened has come back to her, and she has to make some decisions about her life she never thought she’d have too.
That sounds great! And I love the name Melisa … it’s such a great way of spelling Mellissa. I love alternative spellings. Like, I’m thinking about naming one of my children Milli. You know, instead of Milly/Millie. Or Elli. Although that would just be short for Eleanor. Or Ellinor. Elinor? Elnora.
