NaNoWriMo 2016, Update #5

Guess what?

Winner

That’s right! I currently have 53,462 words. However, I made my goal (50,000) on the 25th. How many more words do I expect to get before November’s up? Well, at most I expect to reach 60,000 … but even that would be a stretch.

I think I have that much material story-wise … but I might not finish At Her Fingertips this month. I might write ‘The End’ sometime in the first week of December. But, in my opinion, that’s a worse-case scenario.

Recommitment

I know, I know … no posts on the weekend. But that’s my rule, not your rule, so what do you care?! Seriously, though, folks, this is another post I wrote on Send the Light. I hope you enjoy, like, comment on, and share it.

NaNoWriMo 2016 Update #4

I decided to do the post today as I doubt I’ll have time for one tomorrow – and I’ll be at the beach, anyway – and I obviously didn’t have time for one Monday!

NaNoWriMo 2016 Update #3

Here we are this chilly (we just had our first frost! Which is weird, because it’s mid-November … global warming?

NaNoWriMo 2016 Update #2

The first five times (yes, five!) times I wrote the title, I wrote ‘NaNoWriMo 2016 Updated #2.’ Consider yourself updated. *sports reference* *confirmation of points received*

Yep. My fingers type with no regard to my brain sometimes …

Back to our regularly scheduled programming, my word count has now reached 28o46 words. Some days I write more, some days I write less, but that’s approximately 2000 every day.

Since I only wanted to write 1700 a day, I’m a little ahead, which is fantastic, as in past years I struggled to get out enough to make 40000 in a month, while at this rate, I could get 60000, assuming I had that much content (which I don’t, really). But the end of the month is gonna be busy, so it’s good that I’m somewhat ahead.

If you want to know more than that about words and days, find it out here, at my stats on the adult NaNoWriMo.

Because I’m kind of in a hurry, that’s all for today, guys. Yeah, it was lame, but … okay, I have no excuse … comment?!

I’m Not Supposed to Post Today …

But I’m too excited not to post!
election2016

Have you ever seen anything so beautiful!?!?! Gosh, I love red elephants!

I just want to say that I’m so proud of you, America! I thought you were hopeless; I lost faith in you when the media proclaimed their Jezebel queen from the highest tower.

You still are pretty bad. But at least you’re not as hopeless as I thought you were.

Thank you, America, and more importantly, thank You, God! America sure deserved Hillary Clinton, but You have shown us incredible mercy once again. You’re so awesome.❤

NaNoWriMo 2016 Update #1

At 14,588 words, I’m pretty proud with what I’ve accomplished this November so far.

I think I could have done more … but there have been distractions. School, visiting siblings, an early Thanksgiving dinner, realizing that I haven’t touched my guitar in months and that the only song I practiced this year on my clarinet is the one we’re not going to end up playing in the concert … life is hard.

Plotting Crash Course: The Day Before NaNo and Dares

Okay, let me start out this post with saying I will only be posting sporadically throughout November.

I plan to give you a general update one a week – I’m thinking Mondays or Thursdays. I’m also planning to reblog the two posts I’ll be making on Send the Light (we finally got organized thanks to the efforts of the wonderful Lainey!) during this coming month. Other than that, I’m not planning anything else. I can’t waste time writing blog posts when I’ve got 1,700 words to write every day!

As far as Reveries Reviews, I don’t know. I need to review a lot of books, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to get the reviews out during November. I know I’m not going to read much if at all during November, so. I feel incredibly guilty … so many books to review …

Now, before I go on to ramble talk about the coming November, I’m going to give you a quick update to let you know how I accomplished October’s dares, although October isn’t quite over yet …

Plotting Crash Course, Day Four: Cheat Sheets and a Break

the-plotting-crash-course

Well, we’ve only got a couple more days until NaNoWriMo starts. I’ve been doing a lot of work to get myself prepared – such as spending all afternoon and evening yesterday reading a random book which has nothing to do with NaNo Prep.

Yep. Subtle sarcasm …

Seriously, though, folks. Lately I’ve been working a lot on my cheat sheet. What is my cheat sheet, you may have asked (and if you didn’t, I’m going to tell you anyway)?

001

(Sorry for poor-quality photos! I’m in a hurry!)

Basically, it’s a great big piece of paper covers with what I like to call At Her Fingertips At A Glance (which … I just came up with and am now liking!).

Basically, on one side runs my outline, most of the scenes summed up like so:

008

So yep. Unless you’re me, you probably have no idea what’s going on. For instance, ‘bird’s nest.’ There are no birds in this scene! WHY IS IT CALLED BIRD’S NEST?!?!? Then I remembered it was a reference to Much Ado About Nothing. If you get that, please comment! I need to know culture still exists in this world …

Juuuuust kidding!

As I remembered a couple scenes, I had to add notes in about them like so:

003

Scattered about are also things I need to remember like the once sentence summary, quick notes on theme and other important stuff, etc.

I also made sure to include what goes where. For instance, I labeled the inciting incident, midpoint, and all other points of interest.
