That night, I had a dream about the plot of my novel. The next day, I researched how to write a novel, and then began writing. I conducted a lot of research on politics and current events, and read every book on writing I could get my hands on. Five years later, I finished Don't Speak. Most of the characters and plot survived the journey, as well as the ending. Thanks for your question.(less)

I've been thinking about it the last couple of days, and I haven't been able to come up with an answer. Either 1) I've read too many books, or 2) since I read a lot of thrillers, maybe I haven't been exposed to as many couples. I will keep this question in the back of my mind, and I will let you know when I have an answer. Thanks for asking.(less)

J.L. Brown, Don't Speak

“The circumstance is not of consequence, but how you react to it is. Being still and doing nothing are two very different things.”

“There are four kinds of people in this world:

•those who make things happen
•those who watch things happen
•those who wonder what happened
•those who don’t know that anything happened!

I knew from a very early age that I wanted to be first on that list.”
Mary Kay Ash

“A childhood without books – that would be no childhood. That would be like being shut out from the enchanted place where you can go and find the rarest kind of joy.”
Astrid Lindgren

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of "A Course in Miracles"
