Growing up I wanted to be one of two things: A vet or a graphic designer. Okay, I wanted to be a singer too, but believe me when I say, I have not got a voice for singing. I did pass all my flute exam before I was thirteen though. But I never became a vet or a graphic designer. Oh well.

You’re probably wondering where the writing thing comes from?

I’ve been writing poetry since I was young, and devoured books at an alarming rate (still do today) and I thought, I wonder if I can do that, write a book? So I did. I wrote a book.

Read. A lot! Then, just write. Simple as that, really.

Reading helps you to see the way a story flows, how it makes you feel. And don't just read books in the genre you're thinking of choosing. Read romance, horror, fantasy. Read everything! Then you'll have a good idea when you eventually sit down to start your masterpiece.

Hold tight before you write!

Outline first, or use a mind map (you've all heard of a mind map. Haven't you?). This will help you to organise and see how the plot will work. Of course, don't feel obliged to stick to this like glue, you'll have ideas suddenly pop into your head that are shouting at you to head in a different direction, don't be afraid to go with that gut-feeling! Yes, you're character will have there own voice, so don't worry if you think you're going crazy, you're not. Welcome to the wonderful, but totally crazy world of being a writer!(less)

I'm also plotting the third book in the Project Probe series and I'm still tweaking Dagian, the first book in my YA paranormal romance. So, my writing life is quite hectic at the moment.

I prefer to work on more than one book at a time because it helps to encourage any ideas or changes that may be hidden deep within my brain that have yet to be realised.(less)
