Happy New Year everyone!
Happy New Year from Amsterdam!
I hope 2017 is good to you!

My latest blog post is actually about an amazing festival of light art installations called the Amsterdam Light Festival.
However, seeing as it's the beginning of 2017, I wanted to first thank ALL of the wonderful, talented and supportive authors and readers I've met since joining Goodreads. You make being an active member interesting and fun! And thanks to all of your book recommendations, my TBR pile is OUT OF CONTROL! :)
I am truly indebted to those who have bought my books, reviewed them or told their friends about them. Without your support and encouragement, I wouldn’t be able to call my first year as published author a success. Thank you!
Now, if you're interested in traveling to, or learning more about one of my favorite ways to celebrate the winter here in the Netherlands, pop on over to my blog and read about the Amsterdam Light Festival: http://jennifersalderson.com/2016/12/...
Take care!

New website and blog up and running!

Ta da! After months of talking about it, I finally got my new website up and running! Still a few things to add and tinker with, but I'd appreciate it if you took a look and let me know what you think.
http://jennifersalderson.com/2016/12/...
My first official blog post is about why I write. I'd love to hear more about what keeps you motivated! And for those who have stories in their heads but haven't put words on paper yet, why not?
Either way, have a wonderful week! For those about to embark on vacation holidays, have a fabulous time and we'll see each other again in the New Year!

Many reasons for thanks this weekend...
First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving weekend to my American friends!
I've much to be thankful for in my personal and professional life this year. In a few weeks, my debut novel will have been out exactly one year. Becoming a published author has been a wild ride and I'm so grateful to all the readers who've found and purchased my books!
Right at the moment, I'm thrilled to see these three wonderful new reviews of The Lover's Portrait: An Art Mystery posted on Readers' Favorite, Goodreads and Amazon this week!
Many thanks to Liz Konkel for Readers' Favorite, Judith Cranswick (author of the amazing Fiona Mason mysteries) and mystery author Phyllis Entis for reading and reviewing my novel!

Misty day makes for a pretty windmill

No book news in this blog post, just a pretty picture of the Riekermolen (Rieker windmill), a few blocks from my house. We had a few days of crazy thick mist here in Amsterdam and it made for some spooky, yet majestic pictures...

Down and Out in Kathmandu no.4 'travel fiction backpacking'
Hello all, I'm so very happy to see my debut novel, Down and Out in Kathmandu: Adventures in Backpacking suddenly reappear on various travel fiction and women's adventures lists on Amazon!
Unbeknownst to me, Amazon chose to 'push' it a few weeks ago and suddenly it's the no. 4 novel on their 'travel fiction backpacking' list, above The Beach and Are You Experienced?, two of the books which inspired me to write Down and Out in the first place. :)
And what warms my heart even more, is to see it jump from below the 4,000 position, to become the #434 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Action & Adventure > Travel ! I know it's temporary, but it feels great anyway.
If you want to check it out, here's the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Down-Out-Kathm...
