Intrusion

Hi, Everyone!

Life has a way of sneaking into my reading and writing routines. Does it yours?

We have just purchased another home and have completed the demo, so far. Now, the hard part of putting it all back together! But, all that takes time and that means other things suffer.

I mean to write here every few days, but it keeps getting pushed to the side. Not because it isn't important and because I don't want to be connected--it's just a matter of so many hours in a day!

For example, I am having a book signing, tonight, at Power Ranch. I was super excited when they asked me and am prepared for a fun evening, but even that little niche of time was hard to carve out!

So, please help me stay connected by writing questions and giving me a gentle nudge.

By the way, THE CHOICE, is nearing completion. I hope to release in the fall of 2016.

Blessings,

Brenda

Getting Started

It is overwhelming to get a book out of one's head, onto paper, and into book format. When it is finally published, the real work of promoting and gathering a following begins.

I want to thank my little group of followers for being here for me while I go through this process.

But, I'm not the only one going through it. I realize you are out there. I want to improve as a writer as much for YOU as for me. I want you to know I am working every day to make my next book the best it can be.

To that end, please know that I am about 75% done with Book #2. I am hoping it will be out in the late summer or early fall of this year.

I am excited to see how you like it. I will be posting excerpts on my Facebook page and asking for cover ideas. Please visit me there and add your input. You can also always add a question, here, and I will answer right away.

Blessings,

Brenda

Do You Want More of It?

In our world of social media, we are asked to rate products and services on countless surveys and questionnaires.

Teachers sometimes use “thumbs up/thumbs down” with their students.

Some people use a scale of 0-10.

Others use a sad face, neutral face, and a happy face.

I was in a store last week in which customers indirectly rated their choice of ice cream BEFORE they ate it by selecting it by size labels: Like It! Love It! Got to have it!

Wouldn’t this be an interesting way to get feedback on our books (AFTER they are read, of course)?

Like It! Might mean is was ok. Not particularly noteworthy but not a waste of time, either.

Love It! This choice would mean, perhaps, that it was very exciting or especially funny. That is was well worth the time invested in reading it…that the reader would consider reading another book by the same author.

Gotta Have It! This choice might mean that the book was really a page turner. It was inspiring. It spoke from heart-to-heart. It was a great read.

Didn’t Like It! To be fair, we need to add this category to indicate a book that was not exciting or interesting or worth the time spent reading it. Perhaps, it even might be used to label a book that the reader sat aside, mid-read, never to be picked up again.

And just so we include all possible reactions to a book, we might add a final category for books that are just “over the top.” We might call it:

Gotta Have More of It! This book resonated with the reader and he is watching for the author to pre-release his next book so he can continue the experience! He can’t wait to get his hands on another book from the writer. The author has gained a new follower!

Yes. I may like this new way of reviewing books. I am close to the end of a novel right now. I think I’ll give it a try.

What about you? What books have you read, lately, and how would you score them on the “ice cream” scale?
