The Chris Voss Show Podcast – Communicating Under Fire: The Mindset to Survive Any Crisis and Emerge Stronger by Dallas Lawrence

Communicating Under Fire: The Mindset to Survive Any Crisis and Emerge Stronger by Dallas Lawrence

Amazon.com

The crisis communications survival guide.

Anyone who promises a “blueprint” for managing a crisis today is, frankly, lying. Blueprints might have worked in the 24/7 news cycle of the 1990s and early 2000s, but in today’s 1440 news cycle—when every minute counts—the flames of crisis fires rage too quickly for the old ways of thinking.

In his over twenty year–career leading crisis communications for governments and organizations across the globe, Dallas Lawrence has seen it all. His work has taken him from the communications headquarters for the Iraq War to Yemen in an effort to avert the Yemeni Civil War, from the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention facilities in Cuba to the Horn of Africa’s command center for anti-pirating activities. Lawrence has helped manage crisis responses for nuclear disasters, celebrity scandals, the Boston Marathon bombing, the collapse of Wall Street, the Boy Scout sexual assault crisis, data breaches, cancel culture, and more.

The need to be prepared for the rigors of a reputational assault have never been greater, thanks to:
Anyone now being capable of wielding a global platform to swing at their favorite punching bag
Every news outlet circulating updates that just five years ago would never have made the editorial cut
Political leaders using their bully pulpits to attack everyone, from the media to private companies and high profile individuals

Communicating Under Fire provides the desperately needed mindset, strategies, and communication moves that anyone with a reputation worth defending will need when—not if—their crisis moment arrives.

About the author
Dallas Lawrence is a globally recognized crisis and reputation management expert who brings a unique perspective to the crisis world, having served in the highest levels of the political, government, and corporate worlds. Today, he serves as an advisor to multiple technology companies and executives, in addition to serving as an on-air contributor for Fox Business and Bloomberg TV on the changing media landscape.

In his over 20-year-career leading crisis communications for governments and organizations large and small across the globe, Dallas Lawrence has seen it all. His work has taken him from the communications headquarters for the Iraq War to Yemen in an effort to avert the Yemini Civil War, to the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention facilities in Cuba, and to The Horn of Africa’s command center for anti-pirating activities. Lawrence has helped manage crisis responses for nuclear disasters, celebrity scandals, the Boston terror bombing, the collapse of Wall Street, the Boy Scout sexual assault crisis, data breaches, and cancel culture.

He has served as the chief communications officer for two of the fastest growing technology companies in the world and as the chief global digital strategist for the world’s largest public relations agency. He has shaped the highest profile PR battles in the media and entertainment space for Roku and helped to define the future of crisis engagement in the new streaming landscape.

During more than a decade spent in Washington, DC, Lawrence served in the executive branch of government as a member of President Bush’s communications team as the director of Public Liaison for the United States Department of Defense for Secretaries Rumsfeld and Gates. He accepted a further assignment from the President in 2004 to Baghdad, Iraq where he served as a White House spokesperson for the US Ambassador and the Coalition Provisional Authority.

Lawrence was previously a commissioned public affairs officer in the United States Navy with service aboard the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier and the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine, the USS Nebraska. As a Naval officer, Dallas helped lead the crisis communications component of the War Games capstone exercises for the United States Navy War College for half a decade. He has also taught as an adjunct instructor at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication, where he developed the graduate course in crisis communications.

In recent years his work has been recognized with the top honors for online campaign of the year; digital public affairs program of the year and crisis communications program of the year. He has been named the “Crisis Manager of the Year” by PR News and was recognized with the PR News award for “Social Media Professional of the Year”. PR Week named him one of the 40 most influential leaders in PR.

The Chris Voss Show Podcast – Hesed: Does the Tanakh Foreshadow Jesus? (The Loving-kindness of G-d) by Mark Stouffer

Hesed: Does the Tanakh Foreshadow Jesus? (The Loving-kindness of G-d) by Mark Stouffer

Amazon.com

Lovingkindnessofadonai.com

WHILE arguing with the Jewish religious leaders, Jesus said, “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that bear witness of Me; . . .” In this series of books we will examine the Tanakh in order to see if Jesus’ claim has any merit.

In Hesed we will consider if the sacrificial system prescribed in the Torah prefigures Jesus’ death on the cross. We will do so by asking such root level questions as:
Why did the Jews need to sacrifice lambs at the first Passover in order to be exempt from G-d’s judgement? After all, they were the victims in this event of slavery and oppression.
Why did the High Priest need to immediately exit G-d’s presence once he sprinkled the blood in the Holy of Holies? Didn’t the blood atone for his sins on Yom Kippur?
et.al.
We will also examine the lives of Joseph, Moses, David, and Daniel. For, there are some noticeable similarities between their lives and Jesus’ life. The question is, were these details purposely inserted in the Tanakh to foreshadow Jesus, or is this just a coincidence?

Join author Mark Stouffer as he seeks to understand the intended meaning of the Biblical authors.

Hesed is for Jewish people who want to know the truth about Jesus. It is also good for Christians who want to learn about the Tanakh, or Old Testament.

About the author
Mark Stouffer is a retired engineer who lives with his family in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in 1960 and grew up loving sports. Mark graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio State in 1983. After college, G-d reached out to Mark. G-d held Mark’s heart in His hand and said, “I am here.” Mark received Jesus as his L-rd and Savior, and everything changed.

Mark has a passion for the Bible, which he has been studying and teaching for over 40 years. It has always been Mark’s goal to learn the message that each Bible author intended as opposed to trying to make the Bible agree with his beliefs. Out of His grace, G-d called Mark to write this important four volume series. Indeed, the subject of these books was never Mark’s idea.

The Chris Voss Show Podcast – Conflict Resilience: Negotiating Disagreement Without Giving Up or Giving In by Robert Bordone, Joel Salinas M.D.

Conflict Resilience: Negotiating Disagreement Without Giving Up or Giving In by Robert Bordone, Joel Salinas M.D.

Conflictresiliencebook.com

Amazon.com

Two former Harvard faculty—one an internationally-recognized negotiator and conflict management expert from Harvard Law, the other a leading behavioral neurologist and cutting-edge scientist from Harvard Med—join forces to introduce conflict resilience: the radical act of sitting in and growing from conflict to break the bad habits that sabotage our politics, workplaces, and most important relationships.

Conflict is getting the better of us.

From our homes and community centers to C-Suites and Congress, disagreements are happening everywhere, with increasing frequency, and are being treated like zero-sum games that allow little margin for error and even less room for productive conversations. This puts a tremendous and untenable strain on our most important relationships and institutions.

Unable or unwilling to negotiate conflict with skill, we ignore it or avoid it for as long as possible; when we are forced to face it, we escalate everyday disagreements and temporary flare-ups as if they’re life-and-death. Neither approach addresses underlying issues, promotes stronger relationships, or yields satisfying results.

But there is a solution: a combined skillset and mindset that Bob Bordone calls “conflict resilience”—the ability to sit genuinely with and grow from disagreement. In this powerful, hopeful book, he and renowned neurologist Joel Salinas, MD, combine the inner mechanics of conflict—literally what’s going on in our bodies and our brains during moments of distress—with a groundbreaking three-step framework for how to navigate it:

NAME (& dig deep)
EXPLORE (& be brave)
COMMIT (& own the conflict)
In a time of increasing polarization, where consensus, agreement, and problem-solving can sometimes feel elusive, Conflict Resilience provides practical solutions to a common dilemma: How do you handle disagreements and differences with integrity while finding a way to create strong, deep, and lasting relationships?

Conflict Resilience is not another book about conflict resolution, nor is it about problem solving.

Conflict Resilience combines practical applications of advanced conflict management and study of the human brain to teach anyone how to turn conflict and negotiation into an act of union. This book provides the most cutting-edge and scientifically-grounded tools for driving agreement when possible and for empowering you to disagree better when the differences cut deep and the relationships matter most. This is a chance to bring people together, and an invitation to radically transform how we interact with our friends and families, our co-workers, our students, and our neighbors—anyone with whom we find ourselves in disagreement.
