Alhamdulilah for this news. May Allah reward him and all those in Gaza helping to spread the truth and supporting one another through the struggle.

How narratives contribute to genocide.
For decades there has been a war on Muslims. For decades we have been bombarded with images of what terrorists look like. It is been enacted through media, literature and films. I have written for a decade on the importance of authentic Muslim representation and how it directly impacts lives.
The story of Khaled Nabhan pictured above shows us how wrong that image is.
We are seeing this in the most catastrophic ways now with the current genocide in Gaza.
Khaled Nabhan, who lost his three-year-old granddaughter in an Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, cherishes her memory on his collar, where he fastens all he has left of young Reem: her earring.
Images of Nabhan made headlines as he embraced the lifeless body of his granddaughter, bidding farewell as he kissed her eyes and stroked her hair and face, calling her the “soul of my soul.”
Recounting how his heart ached over Reem’s passing, Nabhan told Anadolu that he was unaware he was being filmed in that moment.
“We woke up to the rubble falling on us because of Israel’s bombing of our house in Nuseirat Refugee Camp,” Nebhan said, adding that they were trapped under the rubble. While his son and daughter were injured, Reem and her 5-year-old brother Tariq had been killed.
Nabhan said he could not let go of the memories he had with Reem, whom he would call affectionately, “my dear, my heart, my two eyes,” and who was a constant source of joy for him while she was alive.

The slow but purposeful desensitizing of the world against Muslims has led to this.
Let’s actively choose what narratives we read, what our children watch, be mindful of who is writing, producing or creating them. Let’s actively share these narratives and support them in multiple ways so they start to influence the mainstream. If we start now, then we might see a future where all lives have the same value, regardless of where they are born.
We have to make a stand to change the narrative.
Those in Gaza, like Nabhan and thousands more, through their steadfastness are showing the world their faith and the true meaning of Islam. Let’s join together to build off this.

Demand immediate release for Mansour Shouman
Today I received more upsetting news from Palestine. My cousin has been missing in Gaza for almost a week now. He stayed behind to report to the world what is happening in Palestine. “Mansour Shouman told the BBC that he feels a responsibility to remain and document the events around him.”
Our family has set up a petition to help find out where he is. Please add your name and share.
His wife and five children are among family members waiting to hear some news of where he is. He chose to stay behind to tell the world what is happening in Palestine and like hundreds others, he is being targeted for sharing the truth with the world.

Yousef Khanfar’s Palestine Bookshelf via World Literature Today
World Literature Today- Revisiting their Palestine Voices Issue. As we continue to amplify Palestinian voices and stories, I am reposting World Literature Today’s Palestine Voices Issue which includes a must-read Palestinian bookshelf as selected by internationally renowned, author and photographer, Yousef Khanfar.
While most writers offer their writing to the masses, Palestinian writers offer their very souls. For anything that is born from the depths of the heart has a sovereign life. They invite readers to hold up a mirror and have an honest discourse with themselves. Since the Nakba, Palestinian literature has blossomed and increased in popularity around the world. These magical narratives might not save lives, but they save souls. Courage, justice, and liberty throb in their blood and pulse in their verse and prose. Such magnificent writing and art can only be born from a nation that has been cultivated throughout the ages—colonized much, suffered much, loved much, and ripened much.
For thousands of years, storytelling has been the currency of Palestine.

If you are looking for a selection of Palestinian art , writing, poetry and essays, you will find it all in World Literature Today’s past issue of Palestine Voices which is accessible online. Please share widely. Our narratives in the media, literature and the arts has a direct impact on the lives of all Palestinian’s. By understanding Palestine and its people from their own voices, we can counter the dehumanisation that has led to such catastrophic events in Gaza and Palestine today. Let’s change that by amplifying and supporting Palestinian voices.
You can access the issue and the words and art of Palestinian’s featured in World Literature Today here.
