Madafeh Program: Our guest is Monica Maurer, film maker, film festival jurist, and Palestine cinema archivist/historian.
German journalist and director, Monica Maurer moved to Beirut in 1977 and became involved in the Palestinian resistance by producing, with the Palestinian Cinema Unit within the PLO, a series of documentaries on the daily lives of Palestinians including “Children of Palestine” (1979), “The Fifth War” (1980) with Vanessa Redegrave, “Born of Death” (1981), “Why?” (1982) and “Palestine in Flames (1988). Today, she devotes her time to preserving the film and photographic archives of Palestine. – La Presse de Tunisie

Palestinian novel, Yassini Girls at the Emirates Festival of Literature 2025

I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be appearing at the 2025 Emirates LitFest from 29 January to 3 February! This year’s line-up is full of interesting people from all around the world and I’m really looking forward to connecting with them and hearing more about
their stories. 

I will be hosted for a book signing and conversation about my new Palestinian novel, Yassini Girls. Get your copy before or at the festival and join in the conversation.

I am also co-hosting a children’s workshop for budding writers and illustrators with the wonderful, Sarah Nesti-Willard who is the illustrator for our award-winning children’s books.

Resulting from this feedback, we have now updated the lesson plans for 6-8year olds on The Girl Series to be in for format of a PowerPoint presentation. It makes it visually more appealing and easy for educators to upload and follow. It was a good idea, thank you to those who took the time to comment.

Don’t forget to buy the books to accompany the plans. No other texts necessary! It doesn’t matter where in the world you are, you can still buy and teach with these lesson plans & activities.
