Manic Mondays: I Forgot ... Shocking

Hello My Happy People,
I came online today to write my blog and realized I had mentioned I would have a sneak peek for you all on Friday and I totally forgot to share that with you all. In my defense (read my excuse), we got tickets to see Top Gun Maverick and we planned to go out ot eat before the movie so I wrote my Friday blog quickly on Thursday so we would have Friday free for family time and I just ... forgot.
In case you are wondering, it is very worth the ticket price to see Top Gun Maverick in theaters. I am not a Tom Cruise fan and even I loved the movie. In fact, I would see it again in the theater. I think that says a lot.
But now for today's blog. I have been getting caught up in more website maintenance again and realize that is is my brain distracting me from writing. I wrote a little recently but not nearly enough to publish this before Summer hits in June. I have published that this book would be released in Spring and I an still determined to make that happen so I have got to get focused this week! It will happen.
In the meantime, we are going to have the sneak peek today. So scroll down to read a bit from the next and final installment of the Into the West Saga Serial, Into the West: Family Ties.

Chapter 1 excerpt:
Mrs. Hanover and Martin took their leave and left Margret to go back to her work in the house. When the pair were out of range of Margret’s hearing, Mrs. Hanover started to “tsk” at Martin.
Martin laughed as he stopped and turned toward the woman who was essentially a second mother to him.
“Is there something you wish to say, Mrs. Hanover?”
Martin stood grinning at the woman as she faced him and shook her head.
“I think you already well know what I would say to you, Mr. Stewart.”
Martin dropped his gaze as he felt himself blush a little. He laughed as he looked up at the woman again.
“You know I did not mean anything inappropriate by my actions, I just . . . I got lost in her for a moment.”
Mrs. Hanover had to laugh at the sheepish look Martin was giving her.
“I know you are a good man with good intentions, Mr. Stewart. But many a good man has made bad decisions when in the presence of a beautiful woman.”
Martin laughed as he nodded his head in agreement with her wise words.
“All I ask is that you remember to make your decisions with this,” said Mrs. Hanover as she tapped Martin in the head. She turned to walk away, but then stopped and grinned at him as she added “and no other parts of your anatomy.”
Martin’s jaw literally dropped at hearing her comment. It took him only a moment to recover himself.
“Why, Mrs. Hanover!” said Martin with obvious shock in his voice. He knew he could not let her teasing go unanswered. “You are becoming quite cheeky in your golden years.”
Mrs. Hanover spun around to face Martin.
“Golden years!” exclaimed Mrs. Hanover. It was obvious she did not appreciate the insinuation.
Mrs. Hanover put her hands on her hips and glared at him. “I think you are become quite incorrigible.”
Matin laughed as he went to her and hugged her. It was only a second before she relaxed and laughed as she hugged him back.
After just a moment she pulled back and swatted him on the arm. “Off with you now, before I decide I’m actually offended at being called old.”
Martin began to back away with his hands up.
“You shall never grow old, M’Lady. You only grow more wise,” said Martin as he grinned at the woman.
As Martin turned to go into the house he Mrs. Hanover call after him. "I think Mrs. MacBride was right but you didn’t just kiss the Blarney stone, you swallowed it whole!”
Mrs. Hanover could hear Martin laughing as he disappeared into the house.
Have a great week, go forth and be happy!

Friday Funnies: Top Gunning ...

Hello My Happy People,
Today is such a sad Friday with the events in the Texas, but I can't bring myself to comment further on it here because this would degrade into an emotional tirade. Instead, I will just pray for the families and friends of those lost and remind everyone that midterm elections are coming. Please vote your conscious.
I think today more than ever we need something uplifting and humorous to lighten our souls in such sad times.
I am actually writing this blog on Thursday because Friday, P.R. and I will be spending a good part of the day out and about. We have tickets to see the new Top Gun movie. P.R. has been counting down for this since it was first announced to be in production. While I am looking forward to going to a movie in a theater again with P.R., Tom Cruise is is not really someone I enjoy in movies.
Now, I have nothing against the guy personally (I don't even know him after all) but he is one of those actors who is just basically him in every movie. If you have seen him in anything in the last 10 years, you have seen his only character ... but that is just my opinion. I will however greatly enjoy seeing my better half finally get to see a movie that P.R. has been dying to see. That alone will make it a great movie for me.
In the spirit of celebrating the release of Top Gun Maverick, I have some wonderful pilot and plane Dad Jokes for you today to start your weekend off with a little more lightness in your heart.
Be sure to check out our Book Banter podcast (Into the West: The Orphan Train is available now to stream for FREE in our Members Only (
I wish you all much love and happiness, people. Please hug your loved ones and treat strangers with kindness. I think we all need a lot more of that right now.

Book Banter Podcast: To Read or Not to Read ... Shakespeare!

Hello My Happy People!I hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday! As you might have guessed from the episode title, I will be talking about Shakespeare but before that, I have some great news. Someone I was hoping to bring on a podcast for an interview contacted me to accept the invitation. I give you more information about this person in today's podcast. You will not want to miss this. I will post more about this on my social media when the dates are set.As a complete and total book nerd, my love of reading started at a very early age and progressed quickly. I was reading Shakespeare for fun in junior high. In college I took a class on the great works of Shakespeare and once asked a question that my professor said he had never been asked before. We will discuss this today and I would love to hear your thoughts. The podcast is ready to go, give a listen anytime, any where, on any device!

Manic Monday: Marketing Side of Writing ...

Hello My Happy People!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had a great weekend thanks to my wonderful spouse who was so helpful and entertaining this weekend ... and pretty much always. It's great when you manage to get some work done but still have have quality time as a couple as well. The struggle is often real!
I managed to get the last tweaks edited on the audiobook and I have finished the promotional video for the beta version audiobook today, which you can view below. I'm about to go spread the video far and wide on my social media and hope it grabs some attention. After that is finished, my focus will move to just finishing the last book in this serial, Into the West: Family Ties.
I know some of you have been waiting patiently for this last installment and it will be THE priority going forward until it is finished. I will still be doing blogs and podcasts while writing this last book, but I am not planning to start any new projects, I'm not doing any major redesigns on anything, I have no plans to do anything that will take significant time away from writing.
So I am off to write and I hope to have the cover "re-reveal" with a sneak peek at some of the new text this Friday.
Until then ... I'm off to write!
Have a Great Monday! Now go forth and be HAPPY!
Stephen This is the video I shared to most of my social media. I used the same text and images for a TikTok video, but the format had to be changed to fit their platform. Everything else is the same. https://video.wixstatic.com/video/2c304a_a6aebb1501c24285860e1582b8a48a06/720p/mp4/file.mp4May 20, 2022
Friday Funnies: Free Streaming Audiobook!

Hello My Happy People!
I hope you had a wonderful week and are looking forward to an even better weekend!
I have some amazing news, which I am sure you can guess by the cover photo.
I FINISHED THE BETA AUDIOBOOK!!!!!
Shocking, I know! I know I am shocked it's finally done. In truth, the new studio grade audio equipment made it all so much easier to do. Going forward when I start recording the final versions for all of the audiobooks in the Into the West Saga Serial, it will go much faster than previously expected. I am actually looking forward to doing it all now.
But before I jumping into making all of the audiobooks, I need to finish writing Into the West: Family Ties. Which is what I plan on focusing on from now on. There is only a little bit more work I have left to do on the website to get it mostly updated. I need to check a few things and maybe tweak a bit of the SEO information but the major updates are done. This has been a long road getting everything set up to move forward after the Into the West Saga Serial but not the hard part is done and I can just start focusing most of my energy on writing ... my favorite part of this all.
Speaking of writing ... I should get back at it. Be sure to go to the Members Only page and check out the free beta version audiobook for Into the West: The Orphan Train today. Please be sure to leave me feedback in the comments box on the bottom of the page. I really want to know what you think of the audiobook. What can I improve to make it better?

With today being National Rescue Dog Day in the US, I want to celebrate rescue dogs, of course, starting with my own, Shaggy "Der Verrückte Hund" on Facebook.
I also want to mention my favorite dog rescue, Shep's Place Senior Dog Sanctuary (. They are "a refuge for abandoned old dogs in the Kansas City area. It is named after Shep, a rescue beagle whose gentle spirit and utter good-dogness convinced his owners to start a place to help others like him. " (from their website)
That is it for today, my happy people. But now it's time for the funnies!!!
Enjoy,
DianneQ: Why are all dogs terrible dancers? A: Because they have two left feet.
Q: What kind of dog loves taking baths? A: A shampoodle.
Q: What breed of dog can jump as high as two-story house? A: All breeds, houses can’t jump!
Q: How do you stop a dog from barking in your front yard? A: Bring him in the house!
Q: What kind of dog is always on time? A: A watchdog.
Q: What kind of dog needs glasses? A: A cock-eyed spaniel.
Q: Why do dogs run in circles? A: Because it’s too hard to run in a triangle.
Q: What kind of dog chases everything red? A: A bull dog.
Q: What happened when the dog went to the flea circus?
A: He stole the show!
Q: What do dogs eat for breakfast?
A: Pooched eggs!
And last but not least ...
Q: What do you call a cold dachshund?
A: A chili dog!

Book Banter Podcast: EP 14. She Inspires Awards

Hello My Happy People!
I hope you are having a great week. Today (Tuesday, May 17th) my plans for the podcast got completely derailed in the best possible way. I had planned to just talk about the audiobook more and give an update on the progress (which I still do). The plan was to finish recording the last track Tuesday afternoon, when I also record my podcast, but I got a little sidetracked by an email I received just before I sat down to record everything.
In 2020, right before CoVid19 shut down the world, my mother nominated me for an award with She Inspires Awards (. She nominated me for their Her-Abilities Award.
From their website:
"This Award is reserved for a special woman who despite her disabilities inspires by her positive contribution to the community, workplace, family or just her own life. The winner of this award will have transcended her physical or mental or learning disabilities to turn her life around. Embracing HER-Abilities, she may also have achieved new success, eliminated limiting beliefs, and found a fulfilling way to live a fulfilling life."
Today, I finally got around to checking my email for the week and was notified I have been nominated in this category again for their 2022 awards. I am beyond thrilled and would love to thank whomever the wonderful person was who nominated me for this incredible honor. Please know, no matter what happens from here, if I make it to the finals or not, I am truly blessed and honored at having this nomination. Thank you!
If you know an incredible woman who deserves special recognition for her work and inspiration to others, check out the categories available for She Inspires Awards, nominations are still open.
Personally, I am going to take a moment to just enjoy being grateful for this recognition.
I did manage to get some work done on the Into the West: The Orphan Train - Audiobook (Beta Version) last night. I only had one final track to upload to the website and I wanted to do a bit more editing on a few tracks. I finished all of it and was able to get it everything uploaded and published.
That is right ... the audiobook is available NOW for streaming free to all of the members of my Members Only (
I have also decided how I want to distribute the final versions of my audiobooks once I get them recorded. Instead of selling them outright, I am looking to make them free giveaway incentives for coffee donations made to support my podcast. I need to look into it a bit more, but the way it would work would be something like for two coffee donations you would get a code to download one free audiobook of your choice, for three coffees you would get a code for two individual audiobooks of your choice and so on. I need to look into it more to make sure this will be completely legal and above board.
Later, I will re-record Into the West: The Orphan Train with the new studio equipment I recently purchased (in part with coffee donations from listeners given to support our podcast). This professional level recording will be available on the website at a later date as will the other audiobook titles from the Into the West Saga Serial Collection.

Manic Mondays: Audiobook is Coming!

Hello My Happy People!
I hope you had a fantastic weekend. I spent most of my time working on the beta version of the audio book. I started by piecing together all the bits where I had read from Into the West: The Orphan Train at the end of my podcasts and was shocked to realized not only did I skip a few pages from chapter three but I missed the entire second chapter! I worry about myself sometimes.
But the good news is, the entire book will be available in the beta version of this audiobook so you will get to hear all the bits I skipped in my podcast. The problem is I was reading it from my formatting program on the computer so I was not able to put bookmarks in to hold my place. I think if I decide to do this again with another book, I will just open it in a PDF format on the desktop so I can bookmark exactly where I stop.
It is at time like these that I am forever thankful that I do not get embarrassed because this would have a doozy! But ... what are you gonna do? Don't cry over spilt milk, que sera sera and all of that.
I came online today to quickly write this blog then jump right back into recording the last bits of the beta audiobook so I can focus all of my energy on finishing Into the West: Family Ties. The characters had been quiet for so long I had started missing them, but something woke them up and they are beginning to get annoying. So I need to write out the last bit of this story to quiet them all back down. I know that kind of makes me sound crazy, but I'm okay with that. Being a little crazy makes life more fun.
I am adding some music to the audiobook to lead in and end the chapters. I would like to add a few sound effect too, but that will have to come in the final version. For now, you might want to consider signing up for our mailing list to stay informed when all this new release dates are set. Just go to our subscribe page (
Don't forget, if you want to be able to stream the beta audiobook of Into the West: The Orphan Train for free, it will only be available to site members. It is free to join the Members Only (
Those are all the updates we have for today. Have a wonderful Monday and be sure to go forth and be happy!

Montagsfilmwahnsinn: Tag der jungen Leser!

Hallo, Posse!
Little House on the Prairie, die amerikanische Western-TV-Show, basierte auf diesen preisgekrönten Bestsellern von Little House.
Little House: A New Beginning gefolgt.
Little House on the Prairie gesehen habe.
Show The Big Bang Theory.

Was hast du zu verlieren?

Hello, Posse!
Happy Young Readers Day! I thought today would be a great time to cover the iconic young readers books turned into an even more iconic TV Show. Of course I'm talking about the Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
If you have never checked out their website, you really should. You can go there by clicking the main photo on the top of this blog or click HERE. They have information on the original series and all of the other books this collection has spawned, including cookbooks (which I actually want myself), chapter books, and in their "extras" you can find puzzles and reading guides for the classroom.
Little House on the Prairie the American western TV show was based on these award-winning, best-selling Little House books. The TV show starred Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert, Karen Grassle, and Melissa Sue Anderson. The show depicted life in the western frontier in the 1870s-1890s
NBC Executive Ed Friendly bought the rights to the books in 1972 and hired Michael Landon to direct the pilot for TV. Landon agreed to direct if he was also allowed to play Charles Ingalls. The two-hour pilot movie, Little House on the Prairie aired in March 1974 and was followed by the series which aired in September of that same year. The original series ran until 1982 and was followed by a sequel, Little House: A New Beginning.
The book series is considered historical fiction but is based on the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in 1867 in Wisconsin. Not long after, her family moved to Missouri for about a year then headed west to the prairies of Kansas near Independence. Surprisingly, the family only lived in Kansas about two years before moving back to their former home in Wisconsin. From what I remember of the TV show, I would have thought they spent more time in Kansas. But I will admit, it has been a long time since I watched Little house on the Prairie.
This TV show and the books have become part of Americana and are even mentioned in other television shows. The first one that always comes to mind is the popular TV show The Big Bang Theory.
Little House on the Prairie was a favorite of character Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler played by Mayim Bialik. Some of the great episodes include when Sheldon Cooper, Amy's boyfriend played by Jim Parsons, tries to create an authentic Little House on the Prairie dinner for her birthday and gives them both food poisoning and in another episode when it is found out by her friends Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) that Amy writes Little House on the Prairie fanfiction about her and Seldon and posts it online.
This TV series can still be found on DVDs and in reruns on various outlets. If you have never watched Little House on the Prairie, now would be a good day to give it a try.
Movie Snack Recipe It only seems fitting to use one of the recipes from the Little House Books website for this. What could be better than Popcorn Balls from the The Little House Treasury by Carolyn Strom Collins and Christina Wyss Erikson. (
This easy to make treat will be a great snack while catching up on this old classic TV show.
(Please note: The photo is not from the cookbook or from their website. They did not post a photo of this recipe. The photo is just a generic photo of popcorn balls for reference.)

Friday Funnies: Joke Grab Bag!

Hello, Posse!
I hope your week had been fun and productive and are looking forward to an amazing weekend. I am working on so many things right now I feel a little stressed trying to keep up so today's blog is going to be short and sweet.
Today's "Dad Jokes" do not have a usual theme to tie them together. These are just a hodgepodge of some cute ones I have found when searching for jokes on Fridays. I will be getting back to writing as soon as I post his blog. Keep watching for more in the next book, the final book in this serial, part seven, Into the West: Family Ties. I am still working for a Christmas release. Fingers crossed people!
To find out more about the entire Into the West Saga Serial Book Collection just click on the book covers below.

If you missed The Unboxing Video Wednesday, I posted it again at the bottom of this blog. I hope to get all the formatting tweaks finished this weekend so if anyone wants a hardcover copy of the books, they will all be very uniform. I will post on my social media when they are ready to go. You can actually order them now, they are just not "perfect". The corrections I am making are minute and would likely not even be noticed by anyone who isn't OCD.
Progress is going on the Into the West Saga Serial Companion Fun Book I plan to give out to members of the Members Only page this Christmas. If you haven't joined up there is still time. No strings attached, quit anytime. I never spam you with lot of stuff. To Join scroll to the menu on the top of any page of the website, click on exclusives and go to Members Only in the dropdown menu and sign up.
But for now . . . on with the jokes!
