Podcasting Master Class

Author and podcaster Matthew Felix

Honored and excited to be asked to teach a Podcasting for Writers master class at this year’s San Francisco Writers Conference! Register now here. Details as follows…

When: Sunday, July 24, 2:00 - 5:00

Title: Podcasting for Writers: How and Why to Make Podcasting Essential to Your Platform

Price: $119

Description:

As the world of podcasting has gotten bigger and bigger, it has become more and more essential for writers looking to promote themselves and their work.

But how to make podcasting part of your author platform?

Whether you’re curious about the ins and outs of being a guest or everything you need to know to start your own podcast, this class takes you behind the scenes with former San Francisco Writers Conference Program Podcast Director and Host Matthew Félix. Matthew shares what he and other hosts look for in guests, and he dispels the myth that producing a podcast requires advanced technical expertise and cost-prohibitive equipment. He demystifies podcasting and shows you how and why you can—and should—leverage this dynamic, expanding medium to build and boost your author platform.

You will learn how to:

Find and secure guest spots on podcasts

Be an ideal guest before, during, and after an appearance

Develop your own podcast, including your show concept, format, title, logo, and music

Set up your podcast on hosting platforms, on iTunes, and in podcast directories

Produce podcast episodes from start to finish, from preparation to recording, editing, publishing, and promotion

Conduct a great interview

Get even more out of your efforts by including video as part of your offering

Think outside the box to leverage podcasting in other creative ways

During the class, Matthew will also produce a start-to-finish example podcast episode, providing you with a practical, real-time demonstration of many of the principals, platforms, and applications discussed in the session. By the end, you will have a comprehensive understanding of podcasting fundamentals and how to take full advantage of this exciting medium to promote yourself and your work.

This class is for any writer curious about how and why to make podcasting an integral part of their author platform, whether as a guest, a host, or both.

Register now here!

IT'S A WRAP!!!

🎙 AND IT'S A WRAP!!!

(Not for good; just for this phase with me at the helm!)

🎧 I have had such an amazing time doing the San Francisco Writers Conference podcast (🎧: https://bit.ly/3HBVEbR 📺: https://bit.ly/3uunaVa) over the past year!

As 2022 unfolds, however, other projects—not the least of which being finding a home for my own forthcoming book—are pulling me in new directions. Those of you who might have watched/listened to my wonderful conversation with Lee Kravetz already know that was my last regular episode on the podcast.

Infinite thanks to Conference Director Laurie McLean for the opportunity, as well as to Elisabeth Kauffman for her unwavering, invaluable support and Linda Lee for ensuring all was well on the back end.

Many thanks, too, to each and every one of my guests. I not only appreciated your time, but I learned so much and was so inspired by all of you. Thank you.

Last but far from least, a heartfelt thank you to every one who has listened to and watched the show. The numbers are way up from when we began, and it has been really gratifying to know so many enjoyed and no doubt benefited from our conversations as much as I did.

I look forward to continuing to collaborate with the conference in other ways, including as a speaker at July's rescheduled in-person event. Hope to see you there! (https://bit.ly/3rxHSBH)

Meanwhile, stay tuned for what's next for the podcast, and check out the highlights reel from the last year of our literary chats.

Thanks again,
Matthew
