Cheers to 10 years of Money Memoirs
Dear Money Adventurer,
Ten years ago, I sent an invitation out into the world: join me and 33 brave souls for a month of money truth-telling, one money story at a time.
I called this experiment in collective money mindfulness “Money Memoirs.”
Since 2013, this intimate interview series has illuminated the money stories of folks from around the world and all walks of life.
In this interview mini-series, I talked to folks from all different backgrounds and walks of life — and asked them...

On nearly two and a half decades of teaching, checking, adjusting, fine-tuning, professional growth, and personal discovery.
And how this ever-unfolding journey continues to offer me the opportunity to serve this community in practical, money-savvy ways.

Bookkeepers and Accountants and Money Financial Planners, Oh My!
Please say it with me:
I do not have to know everything.
I can ask for help.
Sometimes, getting support is the strongest, bravest thing to do.
Back in the early days of my Financial Therapy work, I advised everyone to keep their own books — essentially, to be their own bookkeeper — at least for awhile.
You see, so many people (myself included!...

How our teenager money hacked the family budget
Dear Money Adventurer,

Why does a trauma-informed approach to money matter?
Hello my dear colleague,
When we do personal money work, or help clients do theirs, it involves a fair amount of digging into the past.
Yes, we’re uncovering things like old stories about money, beliefs passed on to us by friends or family, or ways of interacting with money that no longer serve us.
But there are often harder emotions that surface. Emotions connected to traumatic events in our past.
The way we relate with money is so often tangled up with past trauma for so many peopl...

This is Why Financial Therapy Matters
Hello, my dear colleague,

Money brings up so many emotions, right?
But you already knew that.
Every day you see your client’s emotions around money shape their relationships, their beliefs about money, and the life decisions they make.
In fact, studies have shown that 90% of money decisions are based on our emotions.
You see it in your own life, too.
You see it in moments like your intimate partner’s somewhat hidden spending and justification of purchases.
Or in the kaleidos...
