That’s it. It’s over. I’m done with it.

SciFi Round Table (a song for the ages)
Like most indie authors, I am a member of several Facebook groups. One of them is a particularly great place to hang out, the SciFi Round Table. Don’t let the name fool you, we cover lots of fantasy there as well.
In a recent post, the admin and creator behind it asked for help in crafting a description for the group. I had responded in song format.
(Sung to the tune of Monty Python’s Knights of the Round Table)
We’re Knights of the SciFi Table,
We write when ere we’re able,
We do reviews a...

The effectiveness of Facebook giveaways
Last week I ran a giveaway on my Facebook author page, in order to generate more likes. Let me first announce the winners, and then do some analysis on the effectiveness of such giveaways.
Huge congratulations for Phillip J. Kessler and Karen Tate for winning marketing graphics!
I’m sure you’ll be able to see the results on their pages quite soon.
Now, as promised to the analysis of running such giveaways.
Why and what-forFirst, let me review the aims and the caveats. Facebook likes are act...

Need some pizzazz in your book marketing?
My Facebook author page is almost at 1,000 likes, so I thought it’s…

To help nudge the page over the 1,000 likes, I’m running a giveaway! I’ll create some marketing material, to help you promote your books. This can be straight up promo images, or a social media banner, or even an animated .gif. Whatever asset you feel will help you the most, when you talk about your book!
All you need to do is head over to THIS POST on Facebook, and:

Interview time
[image error]Yes, me again. But also Felix. Cause we all love Felix. He interviews better than me anyway.
K. Caffee, a prolific author of epic fantasy and creator of the mischievous Pukah, runs a series where she interviews both the authors and their characters. The interviews are not done via prepared questions, but rather as an informal chat.
Naturally, Felix could not resist the publicity, so dragged me along.
First was my interview:
Any tips for making family life, work, and writing balance? Any one o...

Free Unicorn!
In another Achievement Unlocked moment, Murder In Absentia has reached 100 reviews on Amazon!
According to urban legend, Amazon will now send me a free unicorn, so I can impersonate Marcus Aurelius…
[image error]
I might need to grow a beard though. And probably not hold my breath…
But on the plus side, this is an absolutely, fantastically awesome achievement for a first time author. More so, as the reviews are incredibly positive (4.6 stars average out of 5).
So if you haven’t yet read the award-winning...

Harry Dresden – In and Out of Togas
[image error]
After I first published Murder In Absentia and started to receive fan feedback, one common comparison (which I’ve since adopted) was that Felix feels a bit like Harry Dresden in a Toga. That made me curious to learn more, and I’ve since started to read the books. This post is about my impressions of this comparison.
For the unaware, Harry Dresden is the protagonist of the Dresden File book (and TV) series, written by Jim Butcher. Set in modern day Chicago, Dresden is a wizard for hire. The o...

Ancient Ruins
As some may know, we’ve recently visited Israel. While this was mostly about visiting family and friends, we did get to tour around a bit. Here, for example, we visited my favourite fort:

I’ve posted a lot of images on my Instagram feed. More importantly, each image comes with its own little story, and why it’s relevant to me and my writing of Felix’s historical-fantasy mysteries. If you’re curious about my humble photography and writing, I suggest you visit my Instagram profile, and read th...

Kindle Unlimited
[image error]
You are here because, in one form or another, you like books. And, unless you have been living under a rock, you’ve heard about Amazon. One of Amazon’s ways of getting people who read to read even more, is through their Kindle Unlimited program. This allows you, the reader, to read as many books as you like for a fixed monthly fee, while authors are getting paid via the number of pages of their books that have been read during the month.
While there is some critique of the program and not al...
