Indie Books Worth the Read

ballot-1294935_640

Murder In Absentia was added to Goodreads’ list for Indie Books Worth the Read. I was going to ask readers of this blog to go vote and push it into the top 10 – but I’m too late…

It already is in the top fivethree! :-)

However should you have a moment to spare and push it to #1, I’d be eternally grateful for that click!

And if you’re in a clicking mood… Circle of Books (a fun, book-lovers community in and of its...

Amazon and Reviews: Myth Busting

amazon-logo

I’ve seen people talk about the number of reviews on Amazon that can somehow trigger the “amazon algorithm” to start promoting your book.

Some debunking is in order.

This is my takeaway from the below article by Cate Baum:

Amazon will promote your book whenever it thinks it has a chance to make money. If a customer previously bought one of your books, they might show him the next one – even if it doesn’t have any reviews.

The algorithm really isn’t all that secret. It’s only about making sal...

That annoying bastard!

SM - Minis 1 - CopyA lot of you know that besides writing, I also run a blog dedicated to character interviews. So what does my own protagonist, the one I am slaving away and writing his memoirs, do? The bastard runs away and gives an interview on another site…

You can read what he had to say on Zora Marie’s blog:
http://blog.zoramarie.com/character-interview-with-felix-the-fox/

Of course, once I tracked him down, I couldn’t let him out-do me. So Zora has kindly published another interview, this time with me:

Shade’s Shadow

Shades-Shadow-Cover

This is a special story. It’s the darkest story I’ve written to date. I’ve been struggling to complete it for a while. Then Nikki, the organiser of UnDead Prom, contacted me about sponsoring the event, and I knew that this would be just perfect.

So here you have it. Felix’s darkest and most bizarre case, published – very appropriately – on Halloween.

And, since the it was commissioned by the UnDead Prom, I include here also the opening words of the faculty’s History professor (me again) to...

Science Fantasy and Historical Fantasy

Historical Fantasy is “a category of fantasy and genre of historical fiction that incorporates fantastic elements (such as magic) into the narrative. There is much crossover with other sub-genres of fantasy; thos...
