Janet Roberts is security awareness specialist by day and a writer by night. In her books, you’ll always find someone spending a bit of time by a lake, river or ocean somewhere in the world. She was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, on the Great Lakes, and she loves an endless view of water for as far as the eye can see. Sitting on a beach in the morning is the best kind of meditation for her.

She considers herself a Western Pennsylvania girl at her core, despite living in so many other U.S. locations, and its lush green mountains, warm sunny beaches, and salt of the earth kind of people populate her work.

Janet's debut novel, The Narrow Gate, is set in McDonald, Pennsylvania. Her second novel, The Leaf Queen, takes place in Erie, Penns

I usually take a long walk, preferably by a water, read a good book, go to a movie, or just meditate until I'm relaxed enough to let the creative thoughts flow.(less)

Never give up on your dreams. Small dreams, big dreams. Keep them right on the horizon where you can see them. Maybe it takes a few years or a few decades or, if you’re me, just about your whole life to make one come true. When I was a child I was told not to be a quitter or a whiner so I’ve kept moving toward that dream year after year.

I kept writing and dreaming. I’m still doing it.

It was a nice easy read with well developed characters. I learned some historical facts I wasn’t aware of. Sometimes it dragged a little and the number of burgers and alderman got confusing but overall a good read.

Very engaging book. The characters, as with all Kristin Hannah novels, are well developed. There were some hints of a darker side to the sisters childhood that didn't really materialize which was sort of a relief but a little confusing since the expe ...more

“Can I be blunt on this subject? If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”
