On an amavasya night, eight-year-old Rhea mysteriously lands at the doors of Shaktidham, a Tantric house of worship, in a trance. Realizing that she is blessed with unusual faculties, the guru of Shaktidham, Satya, chooses her as a disciple over his own son, Krishnam, to carry on his lineage, a privilege previously bestowed only to males. But the lineage has been cursed for generations, and it is up to Rhea to either break the curse or perish in the attempt.
Will she succeed in her endeavour? Will her love for Krishnam become an obstacle in her path? The Tantric Curse, an unusual story set in the world of Tantra that aims to dispel most of the myths about the practice, will keep yo
My Review

Tantra and Tantrics have always be subjected to judgement. Hearing the word Tantra, the face that will come to the minds of the readers would be that of fire, blood and sex. Anupama Garg throughout her book Tantric Curse tries to break the prejudice and show the world what Tantra and Tantric practice is really about.

The book is the story of Rhea, who enters the Tantric world through destiny at the age of eight, when she lost her parents. Shaktidham, the Tantric abode of Satya and his son Krishnam becomes Rhea's new home. Krishnam becomes her playmate who in turn becomes her soulmate. Rhea faces the judgmental attitude of the society towards the Tantrics when she goes out to the outer world form he studies. A backstory of her friends Netra,  Barkha and Neel is connected to Rhea's life. Rhea reaches a  crucial stage of life when she decides to take a break from Krishnam to attain Tantric bliss. Then we see her life in London where she is uprooted from everything that she lived with. The character of Vishnu was not fitting into the whole scenario. Will she succeed? Will she rekindle her relation with Krishnam? Will her friends' life affect her? What is the Tantric curse she is destined to break? Tantric curse gives the answer to these questions.

 The book breaks the pre set notion. The storyline has got substance. Nevertheless, the chapters are not well defined. Some chapters ends abruptly giving a feel that a portion got deleted unknowingly. Characters of Rhea, Satya and Krishnam are well crafed. Rest of the characters need thorough homework.The book stands out with a strong language. The society to tends to connect Tantra with black magic. Through the book, authoress  tries to enlighten the readers with the essence of Tantra. The classes Rhea give are informative.
The climax had nothing novel to contribute to the readers. The real relevance of the title is not reflected in the book except for the climax. A build up for the same should have been done.
 Verdict: A different story which needed a little more developmental edit.

Book Blitz - The decision by L.K.Kuhl

The Decision
L.K. Kuhl
(Everlasting Trilogy, #2)
Publication date: October 20th 2016
Genres: Paranormal Romance, Young Adult
The guests are invited. The cake is all set. In just a few short hours Sophia Bandell will be saying “I do” to a guy she isn’t sure she loves. But where does she go from here? She feels her life is headed in a downhill spiral. Her first and real true love, Tate Forester, is a ghost. But he’s the man she wants to be with…the one she can’t live without. Sophia is faced with the toughest decision of her life. Does she forget about Tate and marry the egotistical lawyer, Aaron Stuart? Or does she take the plunge and join Tate to be with him for eternity?
Goodreads / Amazon / iBooksEXCERPT:I turned again and caught a glimpse of Aaron coming into the backyard, dressed to the nines in a black tuxedo, his arms splayed wide. He advanced toward my sister-in-law Kristy, who had just come out the backdoor, his voice tight and full of despair. “No sign of her. I’ve looked everywhere. I don’t know what to do next.” His arms flopped down to his sides, and he slumped into a lawn chair on the deck. “This is so unlike Sophia to do something like this.”
Just then, all of my bridesmaids, my best friends—Claudia Bunker, Jenny Staid, and Laura Anderson—came out of the house to join them on the deck. All three of them, along with Kristy, were dressed in their lacy purple bridesmaid dresses, long diamond earrings, and flattering braided up-dos.
“Sophia, you’d better go break the news to them now. Don’t put them through this any longer.” Tate gave me a gentle nudge, urging me to put an end to this.
My chin trembling, I answered him with a small nod. I couldn’t speak, couldn’t answer, my mind tossing a stormy chaos of what to do next. Did I go break the news to everyone that the wedding is called off? Everyone go home. It’s over. There will be no Mrs. Aaron Stuart today. My eyes slanted back to the yard again. This time Aaron sobbed into his hands. I blinked, then blinked again, my vision blurry.
My chest ached, and I shivered as though the wind had shifted, wind that carried in cooler air— air consumed with an acidic premonition and a feverish guilt. My hands fell limp and I sagged against the tree, sliding down the length of the trunk to deposit my butt on the ground, too weak to stand.
I rubbed my face, trying to come up with the right words, words that wouldn’t disintegrate me— kill us. There were none. This was going to be the hardest thing I’d ever done in my life, but I’d been weighing the consequences since early this morning. Ever since Tate told me there was no possible way there could ever be a future for us, not in this life anyway. Carrying out this agonizing feat would mean shredding my existence, tearing every piece of livable being out of me and turning me into a hollow shell. But I saw no other way.
My breathing picked up pace, amped, making the dizziness spin my world out of control. I was losing it. It got so bad I could no longer breathe. I gasped and wrenched my body, reaching for the sun— grasping, grabbing, trying to save my life. But the air was gone. Nothing to sustain me.
Tate knelt beside me and clutched my shoulders to keep me sitting upright. “You going to be okay, Ladybug? I knew it was going to be hard, but I didn’t think it would be this difficult for you.”
Finally, my voice spewed the bitter, vile words out like a hot rush of lava. The knife had already sliced its way through and gutted me, my heart pierced to the end of the blade, long before they spilled forth. I was too debilitated to even clear my throat. I gurgled out. “I’m letting you go, Tate.” The repugnant, volcanic ashes floated to the ground in a hushed whisper, singeing the ground as they lit.
Tate tipped his head, his mouth falling open. His eyes wouldn’t move, they drilled into me. “What are you saying?”
The tears… I couldn’t stop them. They surged forth like a rapid river, spilling down my face. “I’m so in love with you and… and I know that this time… this time I’ll never be able to forget you. And I know what that means. It means that in six weeks you’ll be going away. But I can’t fight it anymore. My love for you is too strong, and I’m too tired.” Now that I said the words I knew there was no going back for Tate. He would be gone.
Tate lowered his head, his lips pressed into a thin line. He swallowed twice, a small sound escaping from the back of his throat like something wanted to burst forth but couldn’t quite get the job done, caught somewhere between hurt and anger. He sat back on his heels, looking at his hands that trembled on his thighs, then finally whispered. “Do what you have to do. For as much as it hurts both of us, I think it’s for the best. You’ll find someone besides Aaron and move on, and we’ll be together in eternity.”

Review of Soul Ring sling

Product reviews has never been my forte. All I could assess were books. Nevertheless, there has been products which forced me to write a few words about. Soul baby sling is one such product. The product was gifted to me by my Sister-in-law while I was pregnant with my third baby. I was a bit apprehensive, taking into account, the experience with other baby carriers, which were heavy and uncomfortable.

The softness of the material is the highlight of the product. My baby was a whiny little thing and was impossible to take him out since he kept on crying. Fed up of the whole scenario, I tried several methods and finally ended up experimenting with the ring sling. It took me 2-3 days to learn the technique,  all the more so because I became a dumbhead post delivery. Once I got the knack of it, I cannot step out of my house without the ring sling baby carrier.

Photo courtesy: www.soulslings.com
The product is designed in such a way that baby snuggles to you and feels secured under our warmth. Once I wrapped him in the product, he just dozed off. We can try several positions with this product.

There are different variations of the product. Mine was Prism love-handwoven wrap conversion ring sling. The fabric is not the quintessential baby soft thing but it's not harsh on the baby skin as well.

I have tried out other baby carriers with my first two kids but somehow nothing worked for me but this time I hit the jackpot. While other baby carriers have weight limit for the babies, soul can be used to carry even your toddlers.

I got it from the retail outlet at Nicole by Diana Alex

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo / GooglePlayGrab for 99¢ this week only!—EXCERPT:There was no moving in this moment. Her body afforded her no such luxury, as swirling white mist covered the soft green grass, giving the world an ethereal appearance. Crimson danced against the golden sky as the evening moved in quickly, hoping to make way for its dark lover.Sam gazed around her, trying to make sense of the familiarity she felt with her setting, but she failed to hold onto the fleeting memory. The soft crunch of grass moving changed everything as realization dawned—she was no longer alone.
Her dark sapphire eyes narrowed, brow creasing as a figure cut through the dense, chalky air. He towered over her by a head or two, and judging by the large expanse of his shoulders, he often left the gym stained in his scent. As his shape continued to gain clarity, from color and size to the defined lines of a life well lived, the swell of anticipation grew within her at the story his facial features might tell.
As he drew close enough for focus, her jaw slackened and her eyes widened with wonder. He was for all intents and purposes a teenager, and yet by his exotic appearance, she guessed him to be a foreigner. Wherever he was from, he was simply beautiful.
He stopped just before her, his gaze locked on hers, and try though she may words escaped her cry for assistance. His piercing jade eyes bore into her, dark orange rays stretching lazily from the iris, his skin seeming to glitter as if kissed by the sun.
“I’ve been waiting for you.”
“For me?” Sam blinked in surprise, taking a hesitant step back.
“Ah, Samantha,” he breathed out, his brow creasing ever so slightly. “Same questions every time, my love. Shall I give you the same answers?”
“W-what a-answers?” She shook her head, attempting to draw in a breath that wasn’t filled with the smell of pure male.
There would be no relaxing in front of him for something was so very familiar and yet alarming to all of her protective senses. Brick by brick, her heart constructed a thick wall that would promise protection. He took a step forward and reached for her hand, but was a bit too late to infiltrate her senses as the wall was up and impenetrable.
She exhaled softly as their skin connected and instinctively let her fingers wrap around his as a sign of friendship. The warmth of his touch sent tingles racing along the corridors of her body and yet still the cold loneliness remained because she demanded it so. No one would ever penetrate her defenses again. Self-preservation had become her lifelong companion simply because life required such company.

What is to be done about the global economic crisis? What about the political instability in so many countries today? These and other critical problems are just not going to go away, so we need to find solutions. But how? And where? Some might say we need a Savior. In The World United Joseph Cazara is that person. He manages to eradicate terrorism and then actually brings peace to the Middle East. A new world government follows, called - The United Society of Earth, or USE. But there is opposition from the last remaining hold-outs. And the tenuous treaty between the Arab people and the Jews may not last as long as anticipated. The future is not yet written, but this novel gives us window into what the world will be like in the years ahead of us.
My Review
The world United is a futuristic book. Generally books showing the future are categorized as fantasy /sci fi. But here the book cannot be considered mere fantasy since it shows the impending plight of people all over the world. The story is depicted through the outlook of Dalee, assistant to the Secretary of State, United States, who later changes his profession. The story happens in 2049 when a 30 year old Dalee becomes a part of the formation of United Society of Earth. The repercussions of the same in the geo political scenario is the core of the story. To fight terrorism, Joseph Cazara comes out as the saviour of mother earth. Is he the real saviour or something else?

The narration is exemplary. There is an element of fantasy showing the supernatural powers. Dalee foray into music and movies were unwanted distraction to the whole storyline. The pace of the story is not steady. The interest that the readers feel keeps on fluctuating. A little more grip was needed in the narration. A commendable attempt was done to counter terrorism.
I received this book as a complimentary copy in exchange for a honest review from the publisher.

The flaky mummy by Madhuri Banerjee and Rohini Tiwari

BlurbMotherhood is supposedly akin to sainthood—a blissful, happy mother looking adoringly at her smiley, chirpy baby. And not a cocktail in sight. But the Flaky Mummy pulls the truth out from under the carpet—in a world full of dirty diapers, the only salvation is a chilled cocktail!
This book is about the journey of six mothers with their quirky parenting styles:
A Punjabi mother stuck in the perils of a joint family while trying to bring her child up;
A tiger mother clawing her child’s path to the top;
A fad-loving disaster of a mother hopping from one ‘parenting method’ to the other;
A lost NRI who makes her way back to her ‘roots’;
A modern socialite with her new must-have accessory of the season—a baby;
A menopausal woman hitting ‘jackpot’ with her last egg.
Filled with hilarious tips and interesting observations, the Flaky Mummy is a witty satire on motherhood, which raises a toast to all the mothers out there struggling, surviving and succeeding at everything life throws their way--with a bit of assistance from their favourite tipple.

My Review
'Completion of womanhood is motherhood' this has been a saying going on for centuries. Madhuri Banerjee and Rohini Tiwari through their book flaky mummy shows that motherhood makes a woman nothing but incomplete. Well I didn't mean it to come out that way. The insinuation was that the book shows how a woman's life changes drastically after her delivery.

The book contains the anecdotes of six women wherein they handled their pre and post natal period. The first one is that of a Punjabi mother. Her dilemma in bringing up her child in a joint family where her mother-in-law is the ultimate decision maker. Right from selecting the name of the baby to the decision of whether to use diaper or cloth nappy is taken by the MIL. The narration is very humorous and engaging. Second one is a strict mother who tried to make her average  child extraordinary by enrolling him to every Tom. Dick and Harry's classes. This one seemed a fictional adaptation rather than  true story. Yes there are mothers of the similat make but he narration was under a typical fictional frame.Third one is the experience of a mother who tried to experiment attachment parenting.  While most of the methods sounded good for the baby, some extreme methods like mastication feeding were impractical.  Next story is of a socialite mother who decided to have a baby just to be in the page 3 pages as a sexy mother is a frank one. Her give and take with the baby sitter is sure to tickle the funny bone of the readers. Fifth story is that of an expatriate who is lured by the possibility of getting a full time help. Once back in India, she finds it difficult to adjust to the discrepancy in child rearing practices.
Sixth one is my favourite. A forty four year old gets an unexpected gift. The prejudices of the society is laid bare in the story.

All the stories end with a recipe of cocktail each mother would live to have. End of the book there is a list of cocktails as well. All the stories somewhere or other portrays that every mother needs her space in life termed as the 'me' time. An anecdote on a mother who doesn't think of anything other than children should have been added.

Reviewed for the publisherI received this book as a complimentary copy in exchange for a honest review.
