I'm so happy your book is finally out, congrats sweet pea! Is it available at b&n or only online for now? I can't wait to get my hands on it. Good luck with all your endeavors.

Thanks girl!

It’s online for now, but if you go into B&N and ask for it they’ll get it for you and you can pick it up in-store.

Right now it’s on Amazon and B&N online!

An Open Letter On The Publication Day Of Meditations In Wonderland

It’s not every day that your first book publishes. But, for me, that’s today.

Along this journey I’ve tried to celebrate all the little milestones - starting to write it, completing the first chapter, completing the first draft, getting a publisher, etc,. and here I find myself, celebrating the biggest one yet. So far I've managed to do that in the traditional ways I know how - by being a total lush and crying, and also sharing with you all.

But today it’s more than that. Today I can’t help but think of that college girl. The one up at 1am, on her couch in her yoga pants, bravely typing out those first few lines: “Elizabeth stumbled into the bathroom and groped the wall for the light switch with the needy fingers of someone functioning from the blurred state between being awake and being asleep, where the subconscious mind still pulls the strings.”

The one who marched into her professors office in January of 2013 and said, “I’m going to write a novel.”

The one who spent every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday alone at the Barnes&Noble in Chestnut Hill, MA, chai latte and laptop in hand, sitting for hours at the table in the corner until another chapter was filed away.

How would she react if I had somehow, now as my current self, been able to appear to her, that January night, and whisper in her ear: “Keep going. The day before this publishes you’ll be on Great Day Washington giving an interview about it, you’ll break the top 38k in book sales out of 8 million on Amazon, and the top 76k Amazon author ranking out of more than 600k. You’ll wake up the morning of the book publication date to hundreds of social media messages saying congratulations, and a tweet from Mary Kubica. Keep going.”

Would it have changed her? Would it have changed the story? Would she dissolve into a puddle of happiness, or shake her head in disbelief?

It’s hypothesis contrary to fact, I know. But right now, the woman I am today - different in so many ways than that college girl, nearly three years later - is proud. I’m so fucking proud of this book. I’m so proud of Alice. Of Elizabeth. I'm proud of myself, too. And I’m letting myself feel it all to the last molecule of my soul. I’m letting myself feel it all, letting all the joy fill me to the brim, to bursting.

I’m so grateful, and so humble, that anyone, for even a moment, decided that this book is worth their precious time. That someone engaged in the noble pursuit of reading, and chose Meditations In Wonderland as their partner on a fictitious journey of the soul. I’ve seen all of the photos you’ve posted online and across social media platforms - not because you were paid, or because you were forced in any way, but because you’re passionate about books, Alice, and reading, and wanted to share that passion with others. I’m in awe of your expression, and the beauty of your passion. I’m not sure what I’ve done to deserve you, but every day I’m grateful for each of you.

So cheers to today, cheers to that college girl - to Alice, and to you. To you, my friends, I say thanks.

Thanks for falling down the rabbit hole with me,

Anna

It’s time!!! Meditations In Wonderland is now available on Amazon and B&N!

Go on, my Alice, my little freak. You’ve been pent up for a few years, waiting for this moment. Show them what you’re made of.

I’m so excited to hear your thoughts on her, and the book as a whole!

Go on, heart. Be brave.
