I’ve gone through heartbreak recently, as I’ve mentioned before. It felt like a box of darkness just parked itself at my feet. But sometimes that box can be a gift.

From opening it I've had a renewed sense of appreciation of the human heart and the human spirit. No matter how deeply we love, or how deeply we’ve been hurt, we carry on - we love, we forgive, we take another breath. It keeps beating, almost in spite of itself.

The reason I’m writing this is as a reminder that you’d be amazed by what you can overcome. Whatever that deep seated fear in your head looks like, no matter how terrifying it seems right now, I promise you’ll amaze yourself at what you can come back from. That’s a freeing thing. Hearts are strange creatures.

Not pictured: my amazing waiter Kevin, who fed me all the mimosas I wanted while I signed and chatted away. He was nice enough to tell me that he went to go pick up the book at Barnes & Noble, and while he asked for it at the counter there was a woman in front of him asking for it as well! Small world! I’ll never stop being grateful.

Have you met my little man, Alfalfa?

He’s coming home with me so soon! November 15th. In the bottom photo you can see why I named him Alfalfa. He has this cowlick spot on his head, I saw that and the rest was history for me!

Dog book #5 I’ve read I just finished last night, from the Monks of New Skete. Their training methods aside, they talked about our spiritual relationship with dogs, and how they help us return to nature and the self. It’s an opportunity I’m grateful for!

I can’t wait to share my journey with him with you all.

What music do you listen to when you meditate ?

Honestly it depends on the day!

Lately a lot of Nirvana. But other days I’ll just do nature sounds. If you use any meditation apps, some of them come with great music. I use Ananda (from Deepak Chopra) and it has the best nature sounds! You can pick from rain, rainforest, thunderstorms and others.

Happy meditating,

Anna

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”

Meditation in wonderland is an actual book? I need itttt

image

Yes! In all of it’s 200-page glory! Elizabeth meditates (you already know) and found her own rabbit hole - and met a whole new (creepy) Alice! Just in time for the 150th anniversary of Alice In Wonderland.

You can find it on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. If you want me to sign your copy and leave you a personalized message (and a bookmark like pictured above) just send it to my PO Box with pre-paid return postage!

Anubis Hermes Bastet

Anubis: How do you feel about death?

It’s just our soul in transition.

Hermes: Have you ever stolen anything?

Not from a store, but I did snatch a unicorn toy from my cousin when I was really little. Sorry if you’re reading this, girl!

Bastet: Do you have any cats?

No! But I did grow up with a merry band of rescued cats, including an orange tabby cat who I considered a dear friend for many years… who many or may not have reincarnated himself in my book!
