Life Via The Camera Roll
A taste of my trip to LA to visit @dressed-in-daydream the other weekend! For those that asked, she’s one of my best and dearest friends from college.
We got to explore Santa Monica, Venice, West Hollywood/Runyon Canyon, some of the surrounding areas, and a little day trip to Laguna Beach.
I randomly and unexpectedly fell in love with Venice, but I guess that’s one of the best kinds of love - it’s like Dogtown meets yogi paradise meets a beach version of northern Brooklyn, in the best way. In one hazy panorama it was: beach, tattoo shop, art gallery, street artist selling dream catchers, smoke shop, smoothies, tattoo shop, skate park, street artist, tattoo shop. People whizzing by on bikes, roller blades, skateboards, and longboards, or running with their dogs with their surf boards on their backs. I loved all the art, the vibe, and all of the creative energy. The street murals were breathtaking. Especially the one with Kurt and Jim Morrison, though I’m biased. And the whole Santa Monica area was gorgeous, the pier and all the tall, skinny Tim Burton palm trees that I took a million pictures of while my friend (patiently!) waited for me.
When I look back at the trip, I think of sunny haze coming through the window of my friends car as I sit in the passenger seat, houses nestled in windy hills, and the coexistence of beach and city. I hear me and my friend’s laughter, traffic sounds, and the whistle of wind ripping across the beaches. I feel sand under my feet, canyon dust, sunburned skin, and comes-as-you-are vibes. I see Tim Burton palm trees, narrow streets and endless ocean.
Can’t wait to visit again, and if you’ve never been, I recommend adding it to your bucket list.

Do you like hard copies of books, or do you prefer e-readers (nook, iBooks, kindle, etc)?
Whether you fold or cut your pizza, isn’t it still pizza and still amazing?
Honestly it just depends on functionality for me - if it’s a book I’m reading for personal interest that I know I’m going to want to take a lot of notes on and refer back to, and if I know it’ll be a potential favorite (basically something in the Russian lit variety or spiritual) I tend to go for hard copies.
But if it’s more for work, for fun, or if I know I’ll be reading it during travel, I go for iBooks (for my iPad) or Audible.
Overall I am a little bit of a romantic about hard copies of books, but I’ve enjoyed e-versions a lot as well. When it comes to books, I don’t discriminate!
