“Good,” he replies, smiling at my response.
I know he’s patronising me, and a part of me despises his tone, but the weight of my arousal is so great that I ignore it. The professor is toying with me, and for some reason I freaking love it.
“Well done, Miss Kellam,” he says. “You’re going to need the book, not me, so I suggest you keep it.”
“Okay,” I whisper, gripping the leather cover between my fingers. I shift my weight, watching him watching me, as my heart pounds inside my chest. “Where should I read, Professor?”
Neil’s eyes narrow, his gaze rising up the length of my body until it meets mine. “I have found that certain ladies increase their focus once they’re over my lap, Miss Kellam.”
And there it is. He says the words so casually, as though he’s reading a shopping list, and it takes me a few seconds to register their meaning.
Over his lap?
My eyes widen as the term resonates. I’m shocked, aghast at his suggestion. Why would I be over the lap of one of my lecturers? And yet, as the anger washes over me, there is something else. The simmering need his dominant display has brought out in me begins to burgeon, threatening to boil over, and something about the idea of being over his lap makes it peak.
“Your lap?” I say, my voice sounding distant to my own ears. “W-why would they be over your lap?”
I know the answer—of course, I do. There is only one logical reason that anyone would be draped over someone’s else’s body. But somehow, I have to hear the words out loud…
“Impetus,” he tells me with a smirk, his blue eyes penetrating me with relentless force.

There were numerous reasons why he should turn her down: they would still be thrown together at social gatherings of their mutual friends afterward, which could be awkward; Dax and Krista would kill him if she ended up hurt; it would cross an ethical line he’d never violated before; and it would test his own control to give her a taste of what she claimed to want.
“You’re not saying anything.” Alessa’s shoulder’s slumped before her back went rigid and she pivoted to face him.
And there, etched on her pale face, was the one reason he couldn’t turn her down. She’d already braced for his refusal, for him to be the next person to turn his back on her. Enough people had rejected her; he couldn’t be another in a long line of inconsiderate jerks who hadn’t cared enough to give her what she needed.
“Does this mean you’re through testing me and you’ve concluded you can trust me?”
Her brows dipped in that cute frown again and he continued to find himself amused by her quirks and drawn to the woman they exposed. He could see she hadn’t expected him to catch on to what she was doing.
“What do you mean? You’re the one who’s testing me,” she returned with a defensive glare, a hint of pink staining her cheeks.
“Let’s see, I surmise you so rudely skipped our second appointment because you were waiting to see if I mentioned your visit to any of our mutual friends. Tuesday, my questioning brought up the past, and you suspected I saw beyond what little information you revealed. You thought to push me today by arriving late, and with attitude. How am I doing?”
And just like that, the shy, insecure Alessa returned and sought to flee instead of taking the risk of getting hurt again. “I can see you’re not happy with me.” She started for the door. “Thank you…”
“If your request was another test, I’m happy to say I’ll pass this one as well. Yes, I’ll tutor you however far you want to go.” And he’d begin by enforcing his rule, something his palm had been itching to do since she walked in with attitude written all over her. Since they were running past noon, he knew Barbara would have left for lunch already and they had the entire suite to themselves.

Vacation in Beautiful British Columbia
I thought I’d let you in on a little vacation tip, British Columbia, Canada is lovely and this time of year is no exception.
I admit I don’t live far from B.C., but except for winter, when it is downright freezing on my end of it, the scenery is incredible.
I have an author friend who is enjoying that beauty every day. The crystal clear lakes and rivers, the lush greenery, the fishing, wildlife, mountains, parks, and so much more. Sounds so much like my Alaska. I love the trips through it’s lush world. Native culture abounds, orchards, history, and more.
There is so much to see and do in B.C. so I invite you to come for a visit. But, if you can’t go right away, why don’t you read my friend’s books set in that beauty? She is realistic in her writings of the type of romance found in our dreams.

“Straighten me out?” Ingrid pursed her lips for a second. “What does that look, taste, and feel like?”
“It looks like you, bare-bottomed, stretched over my knee. It tastes like you eating humble pie when you go back to that cinema tomorrow and apologize for spoiling one of their seats and offer to pay for the cost of cleaning. It feels like my hand falling hard and fast on your upturned derrière.”
Ingrid’s throat turned desert dry, as feelings pinballed through her. She’d have to try to be honest, something she’d never done before. Sure, she was trying to move her life in that direction anyway but now Lachlan would be watching her. He would spank her if she failed. He might give up on her entirely if she wasn’t willing to try.
“So you want to punish me like I’m a recalcitrant child?” she asked.
