Astro Suite for Obsidian
I've been using Astro in combination with Obsidian for over a year now. It's been my primary method for publishing blog posts. I've grown to appreciate Astro's content-centric yet flexible nature and have especially loved using Obsidian, to the point where I use it as my daily notetaking app also now.

The Meta Loop
[!info] DefinitionMeta Loop: when users of a communication-based product or service primarily engage with it to discuss or document the platform itself, rather than its broader intended purpose.
Similar to fourth-wall-breaking, a meta loop is a cycle of recursive usage.
Signs of a Meta Loop:
Most posts mention the platform's features, news, or name.Content focuses on comparisons to competitors rather than original creations.Novelty overshadows practical use.Joining Bluesky just to talk a...

Cool Minimal Astro Blog Themes
Astro is a web framework for markdown-based websites and blogs. I enjoy using it, especially when paired with Obsidian for drafting site content.
Currently I use a tweaked version of Fuwari for davidvkimball.com, and have been for just over a year now. However I'm considering switching to a more minimal theme, so here are the ones I'm looking at.
Each theme is open source, so I'll link to a live demo of the theme along with a link to the GitHub repository. And of course, ...

Digital Productivity Just Requires Discipline
In the world of productivity influencers, a misconception exists about analog vs. digital tools.
The idea espoused is: in order to get actual work done, you must use analog options like note-taking with pen and paper or a physical to-do list because it's the only way to avoid digital distractions.
That is not true and a cop-out.
Two things can be true at once: you can be wildly productive using digital tools while simultaneously not allowing digital disruptions to int...

AI is Here To Stay. Now what?
Artificial intelligence is changing the world. Is AI a net-positive or net-negative for the world? Only time can really say - but I'm excited. Let's dive in together.
ContentsRepeating HistoryWe've seen monumental shifts like this before. Consider the horse and buggy industry, which was probably terrified of motor vehicles. Or how the technology leap of the photograph took business away from portrait painters' business.
With each new technological leap, established jobs of the century were sup...

A Christian's Guide to Civil Online Discourse
Trent Horn recently published a video talking about how his wife was the target of unwarranted verbal attacks. Something she said was taken out of context, misconstrued, and then turned into a false rumor. Trent addresses the accusations, provides the full context, clarifies, and then proves them to be falsehoods.
At the end of his video, he includes some scripture verses I found really helpful in framing how to conduct yourself with online discussions (that can often get out of hand). Here are ...

5 Radical Principles for Excellent Work
Heres a Radical claim: there is a right way to do business.
Have you ever joined an organization that did something so well you thought, 'Yes, this is how it should be handled at every company'?
Maybe it was onboarding, team meetings, operations, performance reviews, or something else entirely.
During my career spanning over a decade, Ive distilled what I've observed into 5 Radical Principles that have elevated some companies above the rest.
Radical Automation - Using artificial ...

My Software Of Choice (With Links)
Here's a list of almost every piece of software I use on a daily basis. Hopefully it serves as some help to you!
ContentsPC Operating SystemFirst, some background: I've been using Windows ever since I first touched a computer. I switched between MacOS and Windows briefly during my college years, and even gave Ubuntu a try, but ultimately I've come back to Windows.
