Cover Story: Sun & Moon

Although light in page and word count, this 8th publication is heavy in significance, meaning and content, and its cover is no different.Admittedly, all previous covers were, dare I say, fun? The designing process an enjoyable and creative one: Playing with colour swatches and attempting to find content that will grab a potential buyer's interest within the tiny window of a second, possibly 2, yet being honest enough to be true to the book's contents. I wouldn't go so far as to say 'fluff', but little more beyond that.None of this can be said for Sun & Moon.At an event, an individual had asked whether this was part of a series (referring to the Roman numeral "XI" in its upper left corner - it is not). As complicated, interwoven in deeply steeped meaning, riddle and enigma, this book's cover ties into its secrets. It is not separate from its contents. Nothing is without meaning, purpose or significance. But these things could not be true if they were simply explained, so, in silence and secret they must remain.Staying true to a decision that all poetry covers will feature some form of self-portrait upon its cover, Sun & Moon is no different.Credit is given for its foreword, and incredible piece written by author, playwright, podcast host and editor, Mark Antony Rossi. One of this book's poems, "Eleven's Silent Promise" had been nominated for the 2019 Pushcart Prize for Poetry.Future printings may incorporate a 'badge' or seal indicating this Prize or nomination. Beyond that, I cannot see much further changes.
