Ngaro's Sojourney: Book Review

(Guest Book Reviewer)A fusion of Robert Lewis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" and Edgar Allan Poe's "The Narrative of Gordon Arthur Pym of Nantucket" with a splash of Maori and a light seasoning of Lovecraft. An epic (movie-worthy) stand-alone (and the first book of a new series, Fractures) as well as deeply steeped in a shared universe of The Symbiot. Brian Lumley's influence is especially clear in Weatherall newest novel, Ngaro's Sojourney. Stephen King, Clive Barker, Brian Lumley, Robert Lewis Stevenson, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft... All strong influences - I see great things for Weatherall!'Seph Sayershttps://pieceofburlap.blogspot.com/20...

Sun & Moon

In the midst of the final stages of preparing the release of my next full novel, Ngaro's Sojourney, as well as the 30th Anniversary celebratory Nadia Edition of The Symbiot, as if this weren't enough, that creative spirit within has decided otherwise, with a will all it's own!I am beginning to work upon a new collection of poetry:Sun & Moon will be a hopeful step away from the darkness of A Dark Corner of My Soul. It will explore - through poetry - the inevitability and impossibilies of certain desires and relationships. The interwovenness, hopefulness and hopelessness our human gregarious natures can necessitate and inspire. Just as the Sun and Moon are eternally bound by their orbital dance, yet destined never to have their love see fruition, so too will Sun & Moon delve into these issues. In its prelimitary stages, at this point I cannot say with certainy when this collection will be available. However, it most definitely will be released in ebook format first, followed by print edition.ISBN: 978-1-988253-24-4 (print edition)ISBN: 978-1-988253-23-7 (digital)

Wade Figurines and Royal Doulton?

Although I put a concerted effort in maintaining a degree of professionalism in my online "persona" as an author, there are times tiny private pieces need to slip through.Who would have thought I have a purchase for fine China, porselein and Wade figurines? (Do you remember them? Red Rose tea used of give one in every box.)The above is a picture of the complete set of Nursery Rhyme characters from the Wade collection. (Do you remember? Red Rose tea used of give a figure in each box.)But my personal pièce de résistance? Royal Doulton's 1939 "The Balloon Man."These collections are important to me because I can remember as a child my mother collecting these Wade figurines. She had never completed the set of Nursery Rhyme characters. She also had a soft spot in her heart for "The Balloon Woman", but could never find the uncommon figurine of the old Balloon Man.Just today, my wife - owner and operator of CMB Catering - did a High Tea party for the winner of the CHEO Dream Home! The China proper were supplied by Chantilly Vintage Rentals, and I must admit - stunningly gorgeous!Interested? Check out CMB Catering's (La Cusinette de Mommy Blue Catering) website!

Ngaro's Sojourney Reviews

“When I first started reading Ngaro’s Sojourney, I thought this book is way too intellectual for anyone. I mean come on, who uses the word xenophobic in their book, let alone twice? An intelligent someone that's who. Luckily for me, I kept reading and I was right, it is meticulously thought out in its execution, writing and narrative.“It’s an absolutely clever journey and one that is worth the ride. You'll feel enriched for reading it.“If Clive Barker and Stephen King had a lovechild, Michel Weatherall would definitely be it! He is one of the most intelligent writers out there.“It is with anticipated breath that I look forward to the second book in this new series!”Codi Jeffreys, Jewel 98.5 FM"Ngaro’s Sojourney is an epic adventure that follows a Maori chieftain in a challenge that will test the bounds of faith, family, and friendship. In this first novel of his new Fractures series, Weatherall skillfully guides the reader through a mosaic of memorable trials and feats culminating into an elaborate tableau. Always the excellent storyteller, Weatherall produced a brochette of new and exciting characters who he led into the most unexpected circumstances, sure to surprise the reader. This solid story, strewed with movie-worthy action scenes and solid character development, left me satisfied yet eager to read the next book. Well-done!"Nancy LaFlamme, beta-reader"This book is an extremely well written fictional work with exciting action throughout."I had the opportunity to read the Jane Campion storyline for “The Piano” back in the 1990’s and wondered how that would make a good film. My judgment was well astray as it came in second to Schindler’s List in the Academy Awards. I had the task of supplying the Maori canoe (waka) and Warriors featured in the film."I also briefly worked with the actors who featured in “Once Were Warriors” and others in “Whale Rider;” both popular Maori films in the 1990’s."My perception is that this novel has potential to make a very good film. Michel Weatherall's literacy ability is well articulated and demonstrates an active mind in building on a storyline."This is an action book about a Maori Warrior who faces numerous challenges and survives to live another day. A Tribe in a world doomed to destruction and despair. Aotearoa “Land of the Long White Cloud,” is a white knuckled ride in an ocean of mystery and intrigue. I would recommend a slow read done in installments. This could be an interesting book for a movie."Dr. Rongo H Wetere, ONZM, FNZIMManiapoto Tribe from Aotearoa
