Positive Prank Calls!!

In which Hank calls random strangers in his town and tells them encouranging and true facts about our world.

I couldn't fit all of them in, and I had to cut a few of them down (and maybe re-film a couple because they took so embarrassingly long for me to say) but I've included the script I used which has all of the positive facts I used in my positive prank calls.

In the last 100 years, the human lifespan has increased by over 35 years. 100 years ago the average lifespan was only 4...

Positive Pranking: The TP Edition

Amy KR's Positive Pranking: http://bit.ly/9NwPJ6 John builds upon an idea by the brilliant Amy Krouse Rosenthal to turn pranks into vehicles for worldsuck reduction. In this video, he TPs houses around his hometown of Indianapolis. (TP, in this instance, stands for Tootsie Pop.) Enjoy your tootsie pops, Indy.

My note: Hello! Your home has been TP'ed, which--for today, at least--means that it has been Tootsie Popped. These Tootsie Pops are your for the licking (and/or biting) not as a part o...

Thoughts from Places: YouTube HQ

In which Hank visits YouTube's physical location...or does he? Thanks to Rick and Margaret for showing me around, and all of everyone else for not getting too creeped out at me waving my camera around.

YouTube HQ was great to see, but mostly it was a bunch of people working hard to make YouTube better. Which, I guess, if I'd thought about it, is what I should've expected.

And San Francisco is BEAUTIFUL! So awesome...people who live here...I am extremely jealous!

And thanks to Mitch for ...

Where are the Space Aliens?!

In which Hank takes on the Fermi Paradox. Why, if there are so many stars in our galaxy, have we not heard from inhabitants of other galaxies. Hank honestly believes that it is because we're stupid to think that civilizations communicate the way we do, think the way we do, or act the way we do. And if they do act in any of those ways, they probably won't do it for very long, because we probably won't do it for very long either.

I HATE PENNIES!!!! (Also Nickels.)

Vlogbrothers shirts: http://dftba.com/vlogbros

In which John Green discusses his virulent hatred for pennies and nickels, two utterly irrelevant coins that inexplicably remain money in the United States of America. It costs more than 1.7 cents to make a 1 cent penny coin in the US; nickels are even more ridiculous, costing more than nine cents to produce.

My inflation calculations came from the CPI inflation calculator: http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl

Information about the...

ANOTHER Oil Rig Explosion?! REALLY?!

VLOGBROTHERS SHIRTS!! - http://www.dftba.com/vlogbros

In which Hank finally talks about oil, oil rigs, how we won't run out of oil, but we might kill ourselves getting at the bits that are really really hard to get at.

Thoughts from Places: The Centennial Valley

In which Hank thinks a lot about being in the middle of nowhere, and what that means, and how every place is equally in it's placeness. He also shows off his sprained ankle, a broken down barn, a very cute calf and his tire-changing skills.
