Family, Love and BISON ATTACKS!
Yes, there is actually some footage of a guy being attacked by a bison in this video because we musn't forget that approaching wildlife is dangerous.
My family is still in town and we're still on semi-vacation having a good time with them.

Demon Four Year Old
In which Hank mostly talks about is crazy-pants nephew, but also about cultural vs. genetic evolution, and the fact that we all sometimes forget that we are not normal, and that most people are not like us, but that does not mean that we can't love and support each other.

Umbrellas Amuse Me: Observations from One Day in Munich

Why Apps Will Not Save Us
So Simon and Schuster's children's division has released a Choose Your Own Adventure app for the iPhone available for a mere $3.99. A lot of people are excited about this, because book publishing is dying, at least according to conventional wisdom*, and apps are seen as one potential salvation. Being the optimist I am, I think the whole affair is a stupid waste of money destined to fail.
I will be very happy if I am proved wrong about this (and, to be fair, I am often wrong), but I think...

Germany and Scotland and England
I should really update this web site more often. Anyway, Hank and I did this big thing called Vidcon. (Hank did all the work, really.) In short, online video has taken over my life lately, but a bunch of other nice things have happened, including the nerdfighters playing a significant role in winning a contest that resulted in the Harry Potter Alliance getting 250,000 dollars. (We did this with the help of my good friend Esther.) You would know all about this stuff if you just followed me on...

My (Frequently Updated) World Cup Support Calculator
The World Cup is my favorite time of the every four years. (I have watched at least part of every World Cup match since 1994. I am currently watching South Korea v. Argentina.) I've been tweeting about the World Cup near-constantly, and several people on twitter have asked how I decide which teams to support. So I thought I would rank all 32 teams participating in the World Cup according to How Much I Want Them To Win The World Cup.
One prefatory note: As a rule, I support countries that...
