Dear WordPress Followers, Thank YOU!

When I first started this blog I didn’t really know what I was getting into. My intention was to encourage myself to write more, connect with other writers and readers, and build a platform for my “brand”.

Gaining followers that not only shared interactions with me, but also inspired me with their own writing, which is just icing on the cake!

Thank you one and all!

4 Mistakes That Keep You From Being More Productive

REBLOGGED! Yup, failing to outline is often a pitfall. And when I mention outlining, I mean being clear on what my POV’s characters goals and wants are overall and what they may be in that particular scene. Fantastic advice!

How do we get our word counts from measly 1k and 2k a day to numbers like 4k and above?

Now I had to do a lot of testing and experimentation for this post. I started with about 2000 words and brought my word count up 500 extra words...

Respect Existence or Expect Resistance — Vampire Verisimilitude

REBLOGGED! Vampires telling it like it is. Thank you, Janiss. Thank you.

Cedarcrest Sanctum - The Matriarch Vampires

The title of this post was paraphrased from one of my favorite posters seen during Women’s March 2.0.

Why do they always schedule these things during the day? #unfair2undead

It does, however, bring up a very good point: with all the talk of “America First” and nationalism, why does it never seem to dawn on these folks that life itself is symbiosis? We’re in this together. Quot...

Protecting Your Work Online

REBLOGGED! Protect your work, writers. The author of this post has posed this question: “Honestly, there is a line between inspiration, taking concepts, and plagiarism, but I wonder, what’s that line? What do you think?” Not sure what to think — especially when that line is getting pushed . . .

A.M.Bradley

For today, let’s jump right into the topic and discussion. If you follow me on Twitter, then you know I’ve been tweeting about plagiarism.

A close writer friend of mine had her concept stol...

The War of the Genres and Why Fantasy Writing isn’t for Everyone! (I Feel Your Pain, George R.R. Martin)!

I love reading all kinds of genres. Whether it be poems, song lyrics, autobiographies, recipes, etc. I’m not a picky reader. In this post, I’ll discuss something few talk about. The War of the Genres! Publish America and the Hasty Generalization That Pissed Off the Science Fiction and Fantasy Community

Almost twenty years ago, a company called PublishAmerica asserted SF/F authors, “have no clue about what it is to write real-life stories, and how to find them a home,” are “not ashamed to be s...

#75 – The Vengeful Tale of Samuel’s Lunchbox

REBLOGGED! Gregg Savage writes short stories for all ages each night “when the house is quiet”. The best time. I understand and empathize with him. I look forward to reading some of these tales to my toddlers. *New Follower Alert!*

The Daily Tales of Gregg Savage

Once upon a time, in a lunchbox with your favourite imaginary characters printed on the front of it, an apple, a sandwich and three cookies were eagerly waiting to be taken to school by Samuel Pearce, a third grader at Greenvale Elem...

Goal: At Least 50 REJECTIONS a YEAR? No Problem, Let’s Go Crazy!

Typically, rejection doesn’t hold a positive connotation. And why would it?

Rejection is painful.

When I was much younger writer, I often didn’t bother submitting my work because I didn’t think it would be accepted. Plenty of times while writing a query letter or a cover letter, the part that always froze me up was when I had to list previous publishing credentials. I was a teenager and feared that the writing contest I won as a seven-year-old would be laughed at or the poems and short storie...
