Introducing author Melanie Rachel!

Hi, I’m Melanie Rachel–Jane Austen Variation Author and Full-Time Daydreamer.

Okay, I do have another job, so maybe not full-time.

I’ve penned 20 (and counting!) swoon-worthy Pride and Prejudice variations. When I’m not busy dreaming up my next plot twist, I’m in the virtual classroom, sharing my love for literature as an English Ph.D. and literature professor. One of my favorite moments? Watching self-proclaimed “non-readers” discover the magic of reading for pleasure—honestly, it’s better than...

P&P TUS: Lady Catherine Condescends to Inspect the Happiness at Pemberley by Diana Birchall

Lady Catherine has a very great deal to say about how she finds Pemberley and its new mistress.

December 16, 1812

The approach to Pemberley was on a giant scale—the wide valley, the great house, the vast garden before and forested land rising behind. Darcy...

A Wild Ride: The Darcys in Venice, Chapter 30, by Diana Birchall

Engraving by George Hunt, 1823

It was a grey day for the horseback ride on the sandy dunes of the Lido, but the Venetian churches and palazzi were etched against the pearly sky and the wind blew hard through the horses’ manes and tails, also ruffling the hair of the two men in a wild and free way.

“Did I say too much in favor of this, Darcy? How are you faring?”

“No indeed, it is as delicious a ride as I have ever known. Though I must admit Shelley’s poem adds much to it.”

“Ah! You think so, do ...

I’ve loved Jane Austen since I first saw the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice when I was fifteen. It made me want to read the book, which I loved so much that when I reached the last...

The Heir is now available!

The Heir, book 4 in the Rags to Richmonds series is now available! Read it all for free with your Kindle Unlimited subscription.

The Heir is the story of Viscount Oakley’s search for love~its not Jane Austen but Oakley might remind you just a bit of Mr Bingley! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate how many of my JAFF-loving pals have given this little venture a try… I hope you’ll find the conclusion of the series satisfying! An excerpt is below-in addition to his other fine qualities, Oakley i...

Introducing Author MJ Stratton

Good morning everyone!

I can scarcely write–I am THAT excited to be introducing myself on Austen Variations today! It is a great pleasure and an honor to join this group of well-established and incredibly talented Austenesque authors. I hope that I can add something worthwhile to the blog and I look forward to getting to know these lovely people.

Who am I? MJ Stratton is a pen name, as I am sure many are already aware. I’m horrible about responding to posts from my author page so a lot of time, ...

Welcoming Author Summer Hanford

Hello Everyone!

My name is Summer Hanford, and I was recently invited to join the wonderful community of Austen Variations. I’m very excited to be here!

You may know me from some of my solo work, like Mr. Darcy’s Bookshop, or (more likely) from my years of working with Renata McMann, with whom I’ve co-authored quite a few novels, novellas, and short stories over the past decade (‘quite a few’ is my way of saying that I’m too lazy to go over to our website and count).

And if yo...
