Monthly Theme 2: Entries & Winner
Photo by Museums Victoria on UnsplashThe Reviewsday Tuesday Monthly Theme for July 2023 was “Family.” Reviewers were asked to submit reviews based on this theme for the opportunity to win a small cash prize.
The winner will be announced at the bottom of this post, but first, let’s review all the wonderful entries. I hope you’ll join me in reading, clapping for, and commenting on the other entries in the contest below!
(Note: I’ve included my own stories in this wrap-up, but don’t worry, I didn’t consider myself in the running for the prize! Can you imagine?)
Book, Movie, and TV ReviewsBook, movie, and TV reviews are the core of Reviewsday Tuesday. When you think of “reviews,” this classic format is probably what comes to mind. This month we got quite a few classic reviews that were on-theme:

That means that not everything will be able to fit nicely into one of our regular tagged categories, which is why we have this “Other” section. Some of the most surprising, unique, and heartfelt stories submitted to Reviewsday Tuesday are “Other Reviews,” so don’t count them out!
Pigeons, reviewed by Madelaine Bell

🏆 🖼️ 🧬 🕰️ 🧵 📷 🏆 The Winner 🏆 🖼️ 🧬 🕰️ 🧵 📷 🏆As always, I had my work cut out for me this month! It was very difficult to decide who to award the prize to after reading all these wonderful stories.
WINNER: Pigeons , reviewed by Madelaine BellThis review was creative, innovative, and educational in addition to being extremely well-written, funny, and downright whimsical. I really enjoyed the points system Madelaine devised, adding points for pigeons being “a dinner-motivated species,” “letting [her] reenact [her] Disney princess dreams,” or inspiring “father-daughter bonding time” and subtracting points for “ick” and property damage. Madelaine’s review of pigeons not only teaches a lot about the species itself, their environmental impact, and the ‘sport’ of pigeon-racing, but interweaves the story of her relationship to her father in a way that makes this review really unique and personal. Well done!
Congratulations Madelaine! Reach out to me in a private note with your PayPal address to arrange payment.
