Weekend Travels - Breckenridge Area Wind Farm

Some people love them, some hate 'em. I'm fascinated by the technology and the massive size of the turbines. This weekend we took a drive out to the area to see them up close and personal.

Clare and Chrissy Talk Location, Location, Location.

Do you enjoy reading fiction set in exotic world hotspots? Or would you rather follow characters as they wander through your hometown? Come share your thoughts as we discuss the all-important story setting here .

Chrissy: Location, Location, Location. Yes, that wonderful catch phrase is not just for real estate anymore.

Clare: Aside from characters, names, and a kernel of an idea for plot, top of the authorly checklist is the question “where is my story taking place”.

Why don't my Craisins dry out like my regular Raisins?

It's the same packaging. Just one of those idle questions that spring to mind.

Welcome to the digital age...

I'll be wearing my tech-geek hat over the next couple of days as I continue to program everything involved with our ISP etc. switchover. I'll pat myself on the back re: the new digital phones, digital voicemail, and phonebook. One down.

Still laughing over the closed-captioned television discussion. I had it setup on the old system strictly for *my* benefit, or so I was told. Hack, hack, cough, cough. It was decided we didn't need it on the new setup, (what, and ruin that amazing picture?).

This was fine until we watched a war movie last night, and in order to *hear* any dialog over the explosions the volume was loud enough to hear down the street.

Perhaps I'm exaggerating.

Perhaps not.

:)

New Release! Butterscotch Kisses in Winter Warmers - a seasonal anthology

No surprise to anyone involved in my life I didn't get a chance to submit a story for this year's DSP Advent Calendar (insert big frowny face here). Imagine my excitement when I was asked to join several authors I admire in a seasonal anthology and life behaved.

Winter Warmers is due to release on November 28th - Until then, click on this cool banner by [info] lou_harper for more details, and a look at the amazing cover (also by Lou)!

Catching up is hard to do

Our long weekend, ISP switchover adventure is over! I feel so modern. Of course we were the last appointment on Friday afternoon. And of course the tech had no clue what to do with all our outmoded equipment, and of course they couldn't send the grizzled old tech out until late Saturday. But here we are, all wireless and tingly. My Kindle is amazed (no more trips to the McDonald's parking lot), and I do believe an inexpensive laptop maybe in the works to keep us out of the basement during the cold winter months. As for the hype on HD television...I may have to give them that one. Even I can notice a difference.

Just for fun, we asked the poor guy on Saturday what it would take to hook the old, non-Internet ready Windows ME computer I use upstairs as a word processor to the network.

He paled.

We laughed.

We are cruel.

It's the little things, a/k/a embarrassing confession #357

Amazing the things we learn when we least expect it. Believe it or not, I've finally taken the time to figure out how to stop Word from replacing my "straight quotes" with "curly quotes" during my find and replace, and basic typing. So simple. So easy. So embarrassing it's taken me this long.

Trolling for icons

It's time I freshen up my icon collection. Do you have any favorite icon makers you're willing to share?

Hacked by Gumb! a/k/a Don't open that link

Sorry if it's too late - but if you've received an email from me and it doesn't look like the usual - don't click on that link! Sorry to say I'm not offering discounts on overseas brides or cut-rate Viagara. My apologies to all.

Thanks for a great weekend at TRS!

We had a great mix of authors and genres, with excerpts and covers everywhere you looked. So many in fact, we broke the site! While I apologize for not being able to get back on the site Monday due to the techinical difficulties, I really applaud the staff at TRS for working so hard to get it all back and running.

Congratulations to DBrown3400 who won a copy of The Scenic Route! for participating.

I'm hoping they will have another event in December, and if they do, look forward to seeing you there!
