Focial, are you?

(sometime in the future … )

“Good morning FB”, I greet rubbing my eyes as I wake up in the morning.

And the app on my phone picks up my voice. Meticulously it goes through the new posts of last 7 hours and ‘likes’ them alternately, taking care that within 2 or 3 such mornings, all my friends and family have at least one like by me.

This artificial intelligence based app keeps me in touch with all my uncles, aunts, siblings, nephews and close friends by ‘liking’ them all; learns from me, and k...

The Book Reviewers’ Establishment

So when you decide to publish your book yourselves – for whatever reason that may be – you come across the ‘Establishment’ – those who automatically deny your work the rights accorded to ‘published’ authors.

For Operation Jai Mata Di, I’ve reached out to several book reviewers – both journalists in media houses and bloggers, and this is more or less, how it goes!

Establishment: ‘who’s published your book?’

I: ‘I’ve self-published it’

Establishment: silent stare

I: ‘You may want to read the b...

The Journey to Publishing!

The Journey To Publishing…

A. Traditional Publishing

1. Submit first 3 chapters and wait for a couple of months for a ‘Ye’ or a ‘Nay’
2. If ‘Ye’, submit the manuscript and wait for a year to get a ‘Ye’ or a ‘Nay’ on your manuscript
3. If ‘Ye’ then wait for a year or two to get your book published
4. Even if the book’s like ‘Ye’ material, your newbie status could most likely fetch you a ‘Nay’
5. Even if they say ‘Ye’, they wouldn’t really spend $$ after marketing! So there ye go!
= doesn’t gua...

What 10 year plan?!

“So how do you see yourself 10 years from now?” she asked, her lovely, long eyelashes doing little to blunt her deep, sadistic gaze that cut right through me. I somehow always knew that this WOULD be one of the questions – it always is! But this time I didn’t prepare for this one. I maintained a false calm about me as I bought split seconds before coming forth with the most apt answer.

Plan10

Inside me, my neurons had already recoiled, dug and traveled millions of layers deep to the first time I ha...

Three Little Things

(song)
You learnYou playYou unplayUnlearn
Start againStop againAnd start againStop again
And one day, you'll all breakdownOne day, you'll all breakdown
Three little things written on a paperThree little things that really really matterTen other things push your life awayYou'll need You to pull it your way...
And one day, you'll all breakdownOne day, you'll all breakdown
Three little things written on a paperThree little things that really really matterTen other things push your life awayYou'll need...

My ship…

And I wish to chart the ship further; forever
Newer oceans don’t deter me
The mightiest mountains don’t daunt me
For depths and peaks,
Aren’t they meant to be conquered?

In the long run

A party again
Everyone’s high

Some dancing
With others
Some
With themselves
To a funky song

A few flaunting
Some positioning
Some romancing
Some conversing with the glass
Some lost
Some realizing
Themselves.

Reflecting
Their environs
Their aspirations
Their desires
Of the short term

Cos’ in the long term,
In the long run
It doesn’t amtter
We don’t matter
We don’t exist,
We’re all dead.

Break Lose

I just need to break lose,
Step out and discover
The world for myself, or,
Remain trapped
Within the confines
Of your creations
