Ode to joy (of meeting book lovers)

One of the best things about writing & publishing a book is meeting book lovers, lots of them. For my personal tribute to them, see my Facebook post:

An author's picks of great books

What books, and what authors, inspire an author? I had the opportunity to think about that when I was interviewed on the subject recently. For a Q & A on books and authors who ring my chimes:

A headline, a child saved, a family changed forever

Almost exactly 64 years ago, on a May morning in 1952, a letter and headline showed up in a newspaper. And so it was that a child was saved and a family was changed forever. The true story of grace, love, forgiveness, and discovery is now told in 'Letter from Alabama,' an Amazon Best Seller for the past 14 months.

An American couple in Havana, 1954 - in a true story of grace & forgiveness

Watching today's coverage of an American President in Cuba reminds me of a chat with Grandfather 30-plus years ago, when he was in his 80s. He was an Anglo from a rural Midwest village, but said if there was one place he would visit more time, it would be Havana. In the '40s and '50s, G'father and G'mother spent winters in Florida, and loved crossing to Cuba. Their story is central to 'Letter from Alabama,' the true story of broken homes, redemption, forgiveness, and grace. Available here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VQIIODK

On this road, hitch a ride through the USA of the '50s and '60s

What the Yellow Brick Road was to Dorothy, this century-old highway was to a little boy growing up in the 1950s. It took him 'home' to the village of his ancestors, and to the sister who was separated from him in early childhood. You, too, can travel this two-lane highway on a journey of discovery, grace, and healing -- in the pages of 'Letter from Alabama,' an inspiring and surprising true story that is an Amazon Best Seller:
