It's gonna be EXTREME!
EXTREME BABYMOUSE, that is!
Grab your board! The powder's fresh and Babymouse is hitting the slopes! (Uh, snowboarding, Babymouse? Is that really a good idea? You don't exactly have a good history with . . . er, being outside). Will Babymouse make it off the bunny slope? Will this winter be extreme—or just extremely lame? And does locker really have a cousin? Find out in EXTREME Babymouse! Snowy Mountain will never be the same!
I had to do some research for this book because I didn't know how to snowboard. I grew up skiing. It was fun ... and a little painful! (hint: you fall a LOT when you learn to snowboard).
Here's where I started.
I had to learn how to put on the board.
And I had to learn to overcome total terror.
Because although this isn't exactly a steep hill, it is scary going down the first time!
And the second. And the third.
I still love to ski, though.
Especially with my Babymouse skis.
Hope to see you on the slopes!
EXTREME BABYMOUSE will be available everywhere January 8!

SQUISH #4: CAPTAIN DISASTER !
Grab your soccer ball, because Squish is hitting the field in ...
It's soccer season! But the Waterfleas are getting pummelled game after game. Squish knows winning isn't everything, but it's something right? Can Squish turn the losing streak around when he becomes team captain? Will Pod figure out how to harness the power of lightning? And how can amoebas play soccer when they don't have any feet?
We had a lot of fun making this one. Here's one of the early lay-outs:
On sale Tuesday, September 25!

Back to school!
I love this time of the year. The back-to-school rituals of finding the perfect outfit for the first day and shopping for school supplies. (I was obsessed with Trapper Keepers when I was a kid.)
But mostly I like remembering teachers who changed my life. Like the second grade teacher who read aloud The Boxcar Children. And the high school teacher who became the coach for the debate team (we took second in states thanks to our coach -- I'm still proud of that one.) And, of course, the college professor who encouraged me to write poetry even though I was an International Studies major. These were my teachers.
Even though I'm out of school now, teachers are still inspiring me. Especially a certain fourth-grade teacher in Michigan who has a blog called Sharpread.
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to Mr. Colby Sharp:
And what does he do to get kids fired up about reading? Well, check this out:
So I can't be more excited to be going back into the classroom again this September ... Mr. Sharp's classroom, that is. Because he's one of my teachers.
Now I just need to find the perfect outfit. Hmmm ...
I think this will be perfect.
