It Was Fun Until the Catnip Toy Came Out!

The peach kitty came by for a visit, and Summer thought it was fun until the catnip toy came out.

The peach kitty stopped by for a visit! It was cold out, so my human had me wear my fancy purple sweater.

He was really happy to see me!

Sometimes he acts pretty silly!

Then my human pulled out the treats, and we were more than ready for that!

Then she brought out one of the catnip toys he got for Christmas.

You know what happened next! And that was pretty much the rest of the visit.

Oh well, more treats for me!

My Cute Red Beret

Summer has a cute red cat beret, and she is matching it up with a couple of her dresses.

I’ve had this cute beret for quite a while! It came from an old blogger friend, whose cat, Coco, was known for her fancy wardrobe. Coco passed away last year at the age of almost 19. Her human auctioned off many of her stunning outfits. I have one, which I haven’t modeled yet (the matching hat needs to be adjusted). And I also got this red beret.

I have some red dresses, so I’m going to see how it looks with a couple of them.

Somali cat in red beret, posing with red striped dress

Matching it with this striped dress creates a chic combo!

Somali cat posing with red beret and polka dot dress

I thought this red polka dot dress wasn’t quite right. The reds didn’t quite match and it just didn’t work as well. So I made up for the lacks by striking a supermodel pose.

So what did you think? Am I right about the striped dress looking better? And do you like the beret? Let me know in the comments.

Silly Sunday Outtakes

It's Sunday and Summer shares some silly outtakes from this week's photo sessions.

It’s time for outtakes! And for some reason, several photo flubs caught me with my tongue out.

Somali cat in turret making airplane ears

And when I wasn’t sticking out my tongue, I was sticking back my ears.

Somali cat with a big box, sticking her tongue out

Thanks, everyone, for your support of my box! Any time my human suggests getting rid of it, she gets this response from me.

Usually I enjoy my treats. But it looks like this one may have gone bad.

And yes, we’ve reached the end of this week’s outtakes! Which ones did you find the funniest? Let me know in the comments!

My Cameo Donation Drive for Pasadena Humane

To help animals in need because of the Los Angeles wildfires, Summer is donating the proceeds from her Cameos for a limited time.

Because we live in Los Angeles, the majority of our friends local to us have been impacted in one way or another by the wildfires here. And my human and I have been trying to figure out the best way to help. And actually, I have a way to help that involves you!

I have not been very vocal about it, but I am on Cameo. In case you don’t know what that is, it’s a platform where celebrities make short, personalized videos for people. Clips like birthday and holiday greetings, get well wishes, pep talks, etc. Even advice and roasts! (Although I don’t do roasts, it’s not in my nature.) The fee for this depends on how big the celebrity is. I will be honest and tell you that my human has never heard of most of them because she doesn’t watch TV or listen to hip hop. And she wouldn’t know an athlete if she tripped over one. But she did see Roger Daltry, Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, and one of her favorite stand up comics, Brad Williams! And then there’s me.

Actually there are a number of cats on Cameo besides me. And it costs a lot less for most of us to do Cameos than human celebrities. Can’t afford $399 for Sebastian Bach? You can get me for $25!

A lot of celebrities donate the money they get for Cameos because, well, they don’t really need it. Usually, I just take the money because I’m not in that type of income bracket. But from now until Friday, January 24, I will be donating one hundred percent of what I get paid for my Cameos to Pasadena Humane! That adds up to about $17.50 per Cameo.

I chose Pasadena Humane because I wanted to donate to an organization that literally has boots on the ground to help the pets and wildlife affected by the wildfires. And they have been working around the clock. You can see some of what they are doing here. My human even knows some people who are volunteering for them right now.

Here are some stills from Cameos I’ve done in the past:

Somali cat in a birthday bib and hat

This one’s from (obviously) a happy birthday video.

Somali cat wearing a fish costume and tiara

I think this was for a pep talk.

Somali cat wearing a nurse's outfit

Someone had a very sick kitty and needed moral support.

Somali cat giving a high five

I’ve done tricks and I almost always do a high five!

So if you’ve ever wanted a personal video from me, now is the time to do it! I hope I’m really busy doing Cameos for the next few days. My fee for every video requested until midnight January 24 goes to Pasadena Humane.

Book me here.

Donate to Pasadena Humane yourself here.

Big Box Dilemma

Summer has an awesome, and HUGE box that her human wants to put in recycling. But Summer wants to keep it! What should happen?

We have a big box dilemma here! I mean, look at this huge box. Isn’t it awesome? This is what my human’s new office chair came in. I even shot a video with it on Boxing Day. It’s on YouTube but it never made it into the blog, so I’m sharing it below.

Somali cat sitting in front of her huge box

But there’s a problem! Ever since Boxing Day, my human has been trying to get rid of my box! She wants to tear it apart and put it in recycling. I want to keep it. Every time she goes to take the box away, I run into it. That’s the only reason it’s still here. But she really doesn’t want to keep it sitting around like this. She’s wondering if there is something she can do to make it more attractive or useful.

It’s big enough to make into a wardrobe for my clothes! It could even be a cozy reading nook…well, if I read! Or a bedroom, since it’s too big to just be a bed.

Somali cat rubbing up against box

I don’t know quite how to convince my human to keep it. I just know I have to!

Do you have any suggestions? I really could use some help here!

Evening Turret Portraits

It's nighttime, and Summer's human has her pose for a few dramatically lit portraits in the turret.

Because of the way the sunlight hits the turret, we’re only able to do photos in it about six months out of the year. During the day, that is. At night, if my human sets up some light, it’s possible to get in some cool looking portraits. It’s just a matter of figuring out where to place the lights. She didn’t think this was a terribly interesting set up (in spite of the subject, of course!).

Somali cat portrait in turret with slightly different lighting

So after moving them around a little, she came up with this.

Somali cat photographed through some iron railing

She also tried placing me behind the the railing for a dramatic effect. This one was difficult because I had to stay in one spot for the light to hit me just right. And it’s not easy for a kitty to stay in one place!

Somali cat portrait with more dramatic lighting

Eventually, we just tried one light, and after moving the other one around a little, this is what we came up with.

And here’s a close up of me!

Did you like these photos? Do you have a favorite? Let me know in the comments!

Therapy Cat Calm in the Storm

Summer visited her pals at the assisted living residence, and it was a nice, calm break for her and her human after the wildfires.

I got to visit my assisted living pals this week. Like us, they were near mandatory evacuation and evacuation warning zones during the big wildfires, but it never spread near to them.

They were having a quiet morning. There was a senior workout program on the TV but no one was paying attention to it. Most people were napping. Off in the far area of the big room, a lady in a wheelchair was meowing. So my human took me over to her. She only spoke Spanish, but it didn’t matter. She was happy to see me and pet me.

A staff member was helping fix a bracelet belonging to the lady who loves my high fives. Once they were done, I went over to visit with her. And yes, of course I gave her some high fives. I actually shook paws and did high fives for several patients this visit.

I saw my elderly lady friend for a while. She was sitting on the sofa next to the nonverbal woman who loves me. But the nonverbal woman was sleeping and never did wake up while I was there.

While I was visiting someone else, another woman came in, and when she saw me she sat down on the other side of the doorway. She was obviously waiting for me! In fact, she made sure to tell one of the staff that she was next. Of course she was, and we went right over to her as soon as we were done. And that was a nice visit.

We also stopped by the other house across the street, and it was a little more lively. There were animal videos on the TV, and a lot of people who loved cats. I had a very nice time, and it was a good break from all the craziness that has been going on during the past week.

My Dress Up Your Pet Day Ensemble

Because she doesn't have any new outfits for Dress Up Your Pet Day, Summer creates an ensemble from some of her classic pieces.

It’s Dress Up Your Pet Day and I have nothing to wear! Okay, that’s not quite true. I just don’t have anything new to wear. So I figured that instead of putting on some random dress, maybe I could create an ensemble. I think the one I have here could even impress Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It’s very 1960’s New York style.

Somali cat wearing a Little Black Dress

I’m starting off, of course, with a Little Black Dress. You can’t go wrong with that!

Somali cat wearing a little black dress and a necklace

I have a bunch of necklaces and tried on several of them. This crystal cat head and pearl necklace worked the best with this particular dress.

Somali cat wearing a faux leopard print coat over her little black dress

Since it’s cold in New York in January, I figured it would be a good idea to wear this faux leopard coat over my dress. I think it’s a pretty sophisticated ensemble!

Do you like my outfit? Let me know in the comments!

Post-Evacuation Visit With the Peach Kitty

After Summer and her human return from evacuating because of the Los Angeles wildfires, the peach kitty stops by for a visit.

Look who came visiting yesterday morning!

Somali cat on leash looking at peach cat stretching

He was so happy to see me!

Somali cat and peach cat waiting for treats

We were both happy to share treats.

Peach cat sniffing human hand

He even let my human reach out to touch him from the front. Most feral cats don’t want to see hands coming near them, so this was kind of a big deal.

Peach cat walking off towards backyard

He didn’t stay for very long. Something was going on in the backyard that distracted him, and next thing I knew he was off looking for it.

Somali cat looking a little annoyed

Typical boy, can’t focus on one thing for very long.

Feral dilute tortoiseshell cat

Here’s a bonus! The peach kitty’s sister stopped by the day before he did and hung out near my human’s office window. And my human also saw his mom on the security cam. So we know his family is around too.

Evacuation Outtakes? Yes, We Have Some!

Just when things have gotten too heavy and depressing, Summer shares some outtakes from when she and her human evacuated.

The past week, let’s face it, has been horrible and devastating. So this week’s outtakes are maybe more important than ever. Because I think we all need a moment or two to take a break and be a little silly.

Therapy cat wearing a necktie and sticking out her tongue

If I’d known what the rest of the week was going to be like, maybe I wouldn’t have been so quick to stick my tongue out after my therapy cat visit.

Somali cat sticking out tiny tongue

You can see my commentary on the week’s events above.

Somali cat annoyed that she can't get door open

You have no idea how annoying it is when you are told you’re not allowed into a room. Especially because “she will get lost forever!” Sounds like an awesome room to me.

Somali cat wearing a sweater and knit hat and winking

And that’s the end of this week’s outtakes! I have no idea what the next week is going to bring. I just hope we get some funny photos.
