Fall Foliage Cruise — New Brunswick; Fundy Park Trailway
Big Salmon River Interpretive Centre
A short time after Fuller Falls we arrived with tour guide Diane Howarth at the Big Salmon River Interpretive Centre along the Fundy Trail Parkway. The Fundy Trail Parkway takes you into the Fundy National Park, and the Big Salmon River once served as a major logging center. The Interpretive Centre acts as a museum to this local logging industry, and the building is a reproduction of the loggers’ bunkhouse that once stood on this site. The views here are...

Fall Foliage Cruise — New Brunswick; St. Martins Village
St. Martins shops
It was just before 9:00 a.m. as we approached the village of St. Martins. Out guide Diane Howarth pointed out some of the local mansions on the way into town:

This is one colorful destination, and I don’t just mean the fall foliage. This is a charming village with brightly colored buildings and a picturesque fishing fleet:

Fall Foliage Cruise — New Brunswick; Quaco Head Lighthouse
Quaco Head
It was still fairly early in the morning when our Go Fundy Tours guide Diane Howarth took us to Quaco Head Light, about half way up the Bay of Fundy. Here we got our first glimpse of a local lighthouse:

This area was just beginning its change into fall colors:

It was here that we got another dramatic demonstration of the wild swings in water levels between high and low tides. This morning I took this shot of a small...

On October 15, 2019 Adventure of the Seas sailed into the Bay of Fundy and made port in the city of Saint John, New Brunswick. Here we caught up with a really great tour guide — Diane Howarth of Go Fundy Tours:

Fall Foliage Cruise — Lunch at DiMillo’s, Portland, Maine
Tour boat heading back into Portland Harbor
Our boat tour was almost at an end, and Ursula had planned for us a lunch at DiMillo’s by the Water. This floating restaurant is actually inside an old ferry that has quite the history: Built in 1941 as The New York (service between New Castle, Delaware and Pennsville, New Jersey); sold to Virginia in 1951 and renamed The Norfolk (service between Norfolk and Hampton); sold in 1958 to Rhode Island and renamed The Newport (service between Newport and...

Fall Foliage Cruise — Portland Fall Foliage by Tour Boat
Portland fall foliage by boat
Of all the fall foliage stops we made this voyage,Portland displayed perhaps the most stunning colors. Maybe even more so than what we witnessed in Bar Harbor.

But more on those spectacular colors in a moment. First, a couple more lighthouse shots, including another view of Portland Head Light:

And another lighthouse I’ve not yet shown to you. Visible in the distance from Portland Head...
