U.S. Boat to Gaza

I am currently slated to be one of some 60 people aboard the U.S. boat setting sail for Gaza next month as part of a larger flotilla seeking to symbolically break the siege of Gaza and put political pressure upon Israel to lift the blockade. You can learn more about it here. I will be posting regular updates relating to the trip here on the blog.

The wave of uprisings sweeping the region immediately presented and continue to present Western elites with a serious public relations challenge. Khartoum Enlists India In Befriending Washington

In playground political developments, the unsavoury outcast has enlisted the help of one of the bully's crew in an attempt to get on the bully's good side. Sudan is appealing to India for help in getting removed from Washington's state sponsors of terrorism list, which entail economic sanctions. Sudan, of course, has long been trying to get the sanctions removed.

Salah Gosh Out!

It was reported on Tuesday (April 26th) that Salah Gosh, the CIA's favored liason with Khartoum for intelligence collaboration in Iraq and noted architect of the atrocities in Darfur, has been dismissed by through decree by President al-Bashir.

The Economist Cites Our Book!?

"Darfur – Intervention and the USA" has been mentioned in the Economist. Unfortunately, it's only online ....and only in the context of noting how many books have a similar title. The Economist counts six other recent books playing on the theme of a "scramble for Africa". As the normally staid publication playfully puts it, "Go to Africa on an egg."
