Don’t be Fooled by The Power of Social Media!
As an early Communications major (early 80’s, before the net), I was made aware how a simple photo has a Point of View (POV). If you shoot a photo or video straight on, you will see the subject as an equal. If you shoot from below, you are looking up to the subject (i.e. showing admiration, respect, etc.) If you shoot the photo or video from above, you are looking down on the subject (i.e. saying they are less than you). This is what the viewer will see.
So, yes, it has gotten worse with the internet & esp. with Fake News. But don’t fool yourself into thinking we weren’t lied to in the past. Think about the fact that JF Kennedy was having affairs with several women (including Marilyn Monroe): How might that have changed the way we looked at him as a president & as a person?
