I got back from the La Jolla Writer’s Conference last night. Already getting caught up with politics. I must stop! My current & next book have the messages that need to be told.

I understand people’s frustrations with the election, but we must do whatever it is we do to make a difference in the world. The writers, both published & unpublished, at the writer’s conference seem to get it. One woman said most of us only heard the negative statements that Trump made. This is likely true, but on the other hand, why did he make those negative statements?

My roommate (at the conference) is upset because the people she knew who voted for Trump would not admit it & therefor would not say why they voted for him. They did not want to explain their rational.

Other than that, we stayed away from politics. We have important work to do! We have to get our work out where it can be read or viewed by the public (in the case of screenwriting). That’s the way writers make a difference in the world.

And the authors and writers who presented at the La Jolla Writer’s Conference definitely ARE making a difference! Jonathan Maberry has published 29 books, as well as hundreds of articles. Laura Taylor is an expert at helping other writers get published. Andrew Peterson’s “Nathan McBride” series is allowing readers to understand the complexity of our nation’s involvement in other countries. Peterson also gives books to vets & their families.

There was not a second during that conference that I wasn’t connecting, learning or feeling the importance of getting our work out to a reading audience. Thank you to the Kuritz family for organizing this amazing event AND for making it affordable! You can register for next year’s conference (Oct. 27, 28 & 29) for $295 before Dec. 15th. http://lajollawritersconference.com/registration/ As of today, the registration for 2017 isn’t up yet, but it should be there any day now. If you don’t live in San Diego & feel the hotel is too pricey, you can always do an AirB&B for Friday & Saturday nights.

IF YOU ARE A WRITER, AUTHOR OR HOPE TO GET THAT BOOK OUT OF YOU ONE DAY, YOU WILL NOT REGRET ATTENDING THIS CONFERENCE. IT IS THE BEST INVESTMENT I EVER MADE. In fact, I likely would not have finished & published my debut novel if I hadn’t gone to LJWC. I look forward to meeting you next year!

Trump Used Hate Speech & Bullying to Win This Election. He now has a responsibility to tell his voters AND THEIR KIDS that hate &bullying are wrong!

Kids all over the country are now saying terrible things to minority students. Young people are in the street because they are scared for their family’s and their own lives.

Sure, Trump removed all the comments about Muslims from his sites, BUT that doesn’t change what he said. Personally, I believe Trump should be in jail for fomenting violence with his speeches. Several people have already been beat up because of Trump. One guy was beat up right in front of Trump while he shouted “Get that guy out of here!”

The media also played Trump’s hateful language over & over. Now that he’s won, the message many kids are getting is that Hate & Bullying are ok. Hate Speech is against the law! Trump should be in Jail, not sitting back acting all civilized now that he has given a big shot of speed to all the haters & bullies in this country! He should now be doing everything he can to let people know that this will not be tolerated.

Many people and organizations have spent years teaching kids that bullying is wrong. Now we are all back to where we were in the 70s. No, actually it is worse now than it’s ever been in modern history in the US. And it is Trump’s fault. And it is the media’s fault. Fox so-called news has been broadcasting hateful speech for years too, so they definitely have some culpability here.

Going to the La Jolla Writer’s Conference/May be taking a 2 1/2 day break due to old laptop

My laptop is a 2004 Sony VIAO which still feels like a great PC to me, but it runs really slow & I couldn’t even get on-line until my Tech guy came & changed some things. The date on it was 2001! How does it have a date from before it was even made?!

The 8-week Blood Sugar Diet, by Dr Michael Mosley, Reviewed

I hadn’t planned to reblog this as I mostly use Pinterest for Health posts. But I was thinking about all the people here in the U.S. on Diabetes meds & how they could cure their Diabetes by eating healthier. Also, Stuart is a trusted 3rd party who tried the diet & it worked quite well for him.

So, best of luck to all those trying to get off Rx drugs for Diabetes!

By the Way, Don’t Bother to Come to Cali! Sorry, But You Can’t Afford it & We Can’t Afford for It to Get Any More Expensive! (I’ve been to CO) <3

That’s it! That’s all I want to say! Marijuana is now legal here, but believe me, if you come out here, you will join the thousands of homeless already here. Of course, some of them wouldn’t be homeless if it had been legalized sooner, but we can’t change the past. You will have good company tho, if you do become homeless: Many of Americans veterans are out there, homeless too. Both men & women.

Thank you, Governor Brown, for building shelter for our vets! Not too many others have the guts to do what’s right! How is that related? Well, if you had been through a war, you’d be smokin’ that funny stuff too!  ;-)  

Best thing you can do is work to get it legalized in your home state. This is the problem with state’s rights, which was never supposed to mean “states.” It meant “A Country’s Rights.”

The Truth, the Whole Truth & Nothing But the Truth About This Election

First of all, that FBI guy is not the cause of the loss of this election! I am going to tell you what is:

The Democrats NEVER choose the most popular candidate! They allowed the media to make Howard Dean look bad when anyone with half a brain knows you can turn down the roar of a crowd, thereby making it “seem” like Dean is yelling for no reason. Dennis Kucinich was a great candidate. IGNORED! They put him so far on the end of the stage that no one even saw him. And Bernie? Bernie was the most popular candidate that we have seen in contemporary history! Bernie drew crowds of 20 – 60,000 EVERYWHERE he went. That’s the reason young people got angry & didn’t vote.
The party has turned it’s back on us. Yeah, I know, that’s what they’ve been saying about the Repugs, right? Oops, sorry, I mean the Republicans. We are sick of WAR! But who cares? No one running for office. Or at least, no one that the media is paying any attention to. The Dems have become Republicans & the Republicans are about as far right as they can get. WE NEED A 3rd, 4th & 5th PARTY! Cuz the powers that be do not give a crap about us, the citizens. The ones who pay your salary, the ones that vote you into office.
Well, this is still related to #2, but this needs a separate section all it’s own. Bill Clinton passed NAFTA, the worst thing he could have done for this country. It was also the worst thing he could have done for Mexico. Canada, well, I guess that’s not really a problem. But have you noticed how violence has steadily increased in Mexico since NAFTA passed? That’s because they are bringing drugs here to sell & they will kill whoever they have to in order to make their millions. Trump said he was bringing jobs back to this country & since he CAN AT LEAST bring back his companies back to the U.S., I guess people believed him!
Marijuana was made illegal for all the wrong reasons back when slavery ended. Basically, the blacks had a higher quality rope so some rich (white) rope companies got DC to criminalize hemp (which included marijuana). SO WHY HAVE THEY NOT DECRIMINALIZED MARIJUANA? Several presidents have admitted to smoking it & it is a known fact that the rich do whatever the hell they want in their homes, legal or not!
Both sides seem to care much more about helping out large corporations than giving back our tax money to US, those who paid them! (Case in point, see photo below.)

I didn’t mention Hillary’s involvement in Honduras’ coup de tat. I didn’t want to give any more ammunition to the Right. I won’t say much because we have this MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX that is the number 1 money-maker in this country. At least one president & one candidate may have been killed trying to stop it. So, I guess the Democrats decided to get in on the action. Which brings us back to #1: WE ARE SICK OF WAR, SICK OF THE BLOWBACK & SICK OF THE FACT THAT NO ONE ACTUALLY CARES THAT WE, (I REPEAT) THE CITIZENS THAT PAY YOUR SALARY, ARE SICK OF WAR. I didn’t even care about Trump talking to Russia; they went broke in the Arms Race & have very little power. THAT’S WHAT MAKING WAR WILL DO TO AN EMPIRE. AND THAT’S WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE PAST 35 YEARS!
DOES ANYONE CARE THAT ONLY ABOUT HALF THE PEOPLE WHO CAN VOTE, DO? All anyone had to do is get those people out to vote & the election results would be totally different. Can we really even call ourselves a Democracy with so many people not voting? I don’t think so!
Does the media really think they are blameless in how this election went? They loved the sound bites, loved giving Trump exactly what he wanted. No one bothered to questions Trump’s so-called “FACTS.” Why? That’s a great question!
Finally, I have seen a return to sexism that is almost as bad as it was in the 60’s. Did anyone really think getting Latinos out to vote would help Hillary? The Latino students I’ve been teaching for the past 20 years said they would never vote for a woman. It is sad, but it is also true.

So, you can continue on blaming this guy or that guy for this election. OR you can decide to start being honest & bring Dennis, Howard, Bernie & Elizabeth, as well as numerous others, into the fold & really listen to them BECAUSE THEY REALLY LISTEN TO US! Or you can continue on your merry way, not giving a crap about us. And soon, we will have some very viable 3rd, 4th & 5th parties. IT’S YOUR CHOICE! MAKE THE RIGHT ONE FOR A CHANGE!

Please. We can’t keep doing this every four years. We must accept our differences. And say, “You know what? I still like you.” Or at least, not say “I hate you” or “I want you dead.”

It makes no sense how angry we are with “the other.”
